Hi! I was wondering if it is possible to shift the marine inside of a dreadnought into another dreadnought. Say the vehicle itself is too damaged to be repaired, but the parts that keep the marine going are fine. Could he be taken out and placed into a New chassis?

Also if this is possible would "upgrading" to a more powerful dreadnought body be a thing? Like say a venerable dreadnought having the guy inside be put into a contemptor.

The Chris Pramas story "Into the Maelstrom" (in the Into the Maelstrom anthology) has an loyalist Astral Claws marine who tracks down Huron Blackheart, but is taken out before he can assassinate Huron. He awakes inside a dreadnought sarcophagus, which has not been installed in a dreadnought.

Yes. They are kept in a sacrophagus separate from the body.

Depends. Same pattern yes. Iron clad etc.

Contempter to box or other way round.... Less so

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I'd go with this. The sarcophagi for all of the Castaferrum Pattern (Box) Dreadnoughts are all pretty much the same shape and size and thus we can assume them to be quite compatible should one dreadnought body be destroyed or the warrior need to be moved for whatever reason.

However we haven't seen the sarcophagi for the Contemptor, Leviathan or Deredeo Pattern Dreadnoughts and because they are all approximately similar shapes (more with the Contemptor and Deredeo than the Leviathan) and because they are each described as being much more advanced than Castaferrum Patterns I think they share the same technologies thus making them compatible. At least in my personal headcannon.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

I was more thinking that the 30k patterns, which where considered advanced even in 30k time line might not be entirely compatabe with the 40k box model.
Yes box model dated back to 30k, but id think that the highest end aspects of a contrmptor and 30k capabilities might not translate over and be limitied by the less advanced chasias its mounted on. Work but lose some of the bells, whistles and maybe reaction speeds.
