Ullo..
I've never played 30k, I bought the Burning of Prospero set because I liked the models, What I'm looking for is some advice on how to put the models together, marines specifically, such that they will be legal in 30k and not totally gimped, nothing clever just usable yet not stupid.
Any hints on the Terminators as well..
Intention is perhaps to use in 40k, but not very often so not too fussed on not being optimised for 40k (not that my abilities would get the best from them anyway)
Open to suggestions for the puppies and wizards...
Many thanks.

for the sake of running both 30k and 40k:
vet tactical squads (regular tactical squads in 40k) Just like you would expect them: 1 srgt, 4-9 bolter marines. 1 marine per 5 (2 tops in a 10-man) can have special weapons or heavy weapons. In BoP's sake, 1 plasma (or meltagun) 1 heavy bolter
For the sake of 30k only:
2 15-man tactical squads (1 srgt each. only bolters otherwise)
the termiantors function best w/ combi-bolter+p. fists imo. Though you can build them with dual claws if you want. The kit have enough spare shoulder pads to build both the heavy flamer and autocannon and mag them.

Cheers, hadn't counted the bits for magnets, may go for the sergeant and just bolters - suits using them as Thousand Sons in 40k as well nicely then get an extra pack for special weapons at a later date
Many thanks

Besides not being an option available in 40k, is there a reason not to go with the plasma blaster? You trade the range and TL’ing of the autocannon for AP2. Which struck me as a decent trade. You are going to want to be in close to use the squad’s bolters (or set up a charge) anyway.

I tend to avoid plasma for fluff reasons, and the fact that you KNOW the first time it gets hot, you're terminator will die, statistics be damned The main reason I didn't mention the plasma blaster in my post was mostly due to ease of assembly. This way, he only needs to mag 1 torso and 2 arms, instead of those previous three, plus a bolter arm, bolter, and the plasma blast gun.

OK, I just wanted to check if I was missing something obvious. While I did magnetize that arm, I’m planning on it being my primary build for my terminators. If/when I do up a second arm to swap, it will be the autocannon (I cut the bits, but ran out of steam).

Nice! One thing I'll question from a useage stand-point is what do you want them do to? Half have fists, so they will be aiming for vehicles or other 2+ saves, but then half have claws, so they will be aiming for lighter infantry? Also, and this is super minor: I wouldn't mix-and-match volkite and bolters. They function similar enough, but volkite really shines when you bring it in bulk. Maybe go bits hunting?

I would love to have all volkite, but there was only one in the box. Gave it to the sarge, mostly for looks. I’m not a huge fan of shelling out money for individual bits. In this case, I’m still on the prowl for some shields to turn half the power armor guys into breachers. So if I’m sinking more cash into this box, it’s going there first.
I put them together as jack of all trades troubleshooters. Which is why their gear is all over the place. I put the BaC guys together as all LC, so these guys got to be shooty. Given more parts, I would have just kept the bulk of them using stock power weapons to keep points down. But the claws/fists look cool, and I had them.
I don’t know how well it shows up in the squad pick, but the sarge is using the capheracti arms from BaC. The hanging bits work very well and help him stand out. The angle of the shoulders is slightly off, but just pressing down when glueing was enough to get them to line up.

Great minds think alike. I was intending to do much of the same thing with my squad, though I was giving the Sergeant a sword instead of a fist/claw. BUT, I am actually thinking I might give them Storm Shields since I am making Imperial Fists. They are probably going to run with Alexis Polux (though the Stone Gauntlet doesn't allow me to Deep Strike them, so I am a sad panda). But I am definitely going with the Plasma Blaster over the Reaper Autocannon. I have Tank Hunters Missile Launchers for dealing with the stuff an Autocannon is meant to go after.
Is it weird that the BoP instructions say to assemble the Sergeant with the Plasma Blaster, even though he has no option to do so in the rules?
