Hi, been eyeing the mantic range for sci-fi and I couldn't help but become smitten by the lovely "blood axes" (read: the marauders) that they have in their range and thus wondered wether or not they were fun/competitive (which I kind of enjoy to have a good mix of em) under the current ruleset.

The next edition is shipping in a few days, so you might want to wait a bit until people get their footing.

Unfortunately I don't think anyone knows yet. The Beta rules have been relased somehwere I think, but I haven't heard any details on Orx performance. Maybe try the Mantic forums and see if any playtesters can give you some idea.

I'm really looking forward to the new edition of Warpath. I really like the idea of different rules for Platoon and Company level games and I really enjoyed the original Warpath 1.0 rules for fast-play mega/apocalypse battles. I'm hoping it will give me a good set of rules for my old 40k armies and I'm also looking at the Orx as a possible counts-as list for my Void Junker army.

Actually, werent Orx basically cut? Pretty sure theyre just a unit in the GCPS army now... they might be redone like the forgefathers. In any case, Im pretty sure theyre not playable on their own atm, and not available on Mantics store. Sorry to disappoint. :/

I don't think that's the case at all. I just pulled up my beta copy of Warpath which I think dates to this October and Orx are there as a full army, albit one that's slim on vehicles. They do have the Raptor 3 wheeld buggy but I notice the conspicuous absence of bikers. Maybe a future expansion? I suppose you could steal the biker statline from Forgefather bikers.

There's a bunch of stuff that's not available at Mantic's store right now. I think they're reorganizing for the release of warpath 2.

Marauders have never had a biker unit, at least not one that had a Mantic mini.

All of the Marauder units with existing minis are in, they're just a sub-list within the GCPS army list, rather than on their own; you can basically field an all Orx list, and then fill the vehicle gaps - basically only heavy tank and flyer - with GCPS vehicles which 'thematically' your Orx bought, salvaged, or stole, and crew themselves. You also use the GCPS orders and objectives.
