Hello everyone, for some time now I have been comtemplating picking up a Deathwing themed army as I have always loved the look of them and the idea of a Hyper Elite Strike Force. However I am well aware that they are severely lacking, especially if you are looking at wanting to build a pure Deathwing themed list. However after some brainstorming I think I may have found a way to improve them slightly by approaching it in somewhat of an unorthodox way, by spamming Dreadnoughts. The idea would be to flood the field with as many Dreadnoughts as possible and overwhelm my opponent through sheer numbers of armored walkers, I am curious to know however have any of you guys tried something like this before and how did it work? Also to make this work what would be a good way to best fit out the Dreadnoughts and the Psychic Discipline for the Librarian? I am definitely still a novice when it comes to Space Marines and am looking forward to some good discussion and helpful tips on the matter!

Librarian Level 2
*w/ Terminator Armor, Auspex, Lions Roar

That's a delicate list. Not sure if the lascannons are worth it to be honest your aim here is to annihilate any troops and walkers they might have and as such autocannon is the way to go.

Multi melta is nice since your droping near vehicles. The flamers and fists should do the rest.

Beside that is your list legal? Wouldn't you need a cad to go with your deathwing detachment? I haven't opened my DA codex for a long time so I'm not sure. Even 2 squads of scouts to go with your librarian could be great to run from one objective to another.

I figured I could use some more weapons to potentially deal with some MC's and the like but the good news is I plan to purchase enough arms to change out to almost any weapon. And yes it is legal I am using the Deathwing Detachment where I can take 1-2 HQ and 2-12 Elites

Looks good, I haven't run anything like this personally so you will have to let us know how it works out. I have considered a pure dread army for my BAngels (front armour 13 psychic dreads) but don't have the models.

Wow this is an awesome concept.

Did the new GW FAQ say something about drop pods in this detachment?

Why would it need to? The Deathwing Detachment only says stuff needs to start in reserve, which Drop Pods do. Drop Pod Assault then takes effect. It says nothing about everything needing to arrive together.

that's not an answer.

This is an answer:

That errata makes it sound like drop pods arrive in "the chosen turn" which cannot be the first.

alrite I looked at this moar. Drop Pods in the Deathwing Redemption Force formation don't arrive in the first turn, but that's not the detachment you're using.

The Deathwing Strike Force detachment, including the errata above, doesn't seem to say anything about drop pod arrival, so yeah half of them come in the first turn. I think the dreads can even run and shoot!

Really impressed you came up with this; I haven't heard of anyone else doing this. I think it may work well against many opponents but not all.

Bingo. People frequently confuse the Strike Force and Redemption force. Nothing has ever come out restricting Drop Pod Assault for the DWSF.
