Hi all, long time Daemon Player here and I've recently become very interested in trying to craft/theoryhammer a competitive list that makes use of both Daemonic shenanigans and renegade artillery. I'm still waiting on a time when I can shell out for a proper copy of the new Vraks book so please point out any inconsistencies you find in the Renegades portion of this list.

The main idea here is to use the buffed Scremer Star as an anvil to set up the hammer blow from the Renegade artillery. Screamers power up and charge a target of opportunity, Ordnance Tyrant allows me to fire into combat against bunched up targets while the damage largely bounces off my 2++ rerollable. Thinking of using this in an ITC environment so it will work against large invisible death stars. Even if they use hit and run they MUST move the full distance rolled in the direction chosen so they should remain largely bunched up for my next shooting phase. Anyway, it's got lots of screening bodies, decent bite, and some toolbox units in the form of Fateweaver and the Heralds.

Feel free to tear this apart from concept down to minutiae, especially anywhere you think the Renegades portion could be fine tuned.

Thanks for the look!

Yep.
This is the kinda list is run if I could afford artillery.

Given the investment, you should max out the screamers.

Other ideas:
A cheap fortification to hide the tyrant and kairos?

I'd be tempted to swap out some of you the shooting for combat units.
Soul grinders/blood slaughterers could also work well.
to counter enemy deathstars, perhaps a chaos knight.

Ha believe you me if I ever get around to doing it it will be a heavily converted force.

I was thinking about maybe dropping some stuff for hounds to go and tie up more units. Would also force some hard target priority for opponents. Do you shoot at the hounds in your face turn 1 or start trying to neutralize the heaving hitting artillery asap?

What would you drop for some more in your face elements?

I made a list before with a knight, but that point most of the list is the Star, the knight and only a smattering of artillery. Kinda wanted to theorize something with a little more of a shooting phase

Why Aye Ya Canny Dakkanaughts!

How many points have you sunk into each detachment?

That is an awful lot of points for a detachment you are using to hold units in combat while you shoot them with artillery. Do you expect the screamer star to pull its weight in points?

I might be a bit subjective seeing as though I don't really like the screamer star's killing capability and I don't trust grimoire, even with fatey, but I would rather go with a murderhorde: the hounds pack a much bigger punch on the charge with 6 attacks each at S5 and the Herald can bring the ap2 at S7. But as I said, I am biased towards the murderhorde, you might not wish to change your list so drastically.

If you want to keep the Tzeentchy detachment then perhaps go with the default: summon in the bigger boys via psychicand support it with Fatey's SD witchfire.

Fair enough point and I was thinking along the same lines. Thing is the screamers don't *just* hold things in combat. Against some death stars they're one of the only things in the game that can last more than a round. Against lists with out huge combat threats they go around and bully anything they can hurt while summoning and buffing. Same for Fatey. The horrors make great bargain obj holders and batteries and also have the potential to turn into a bloodthirster .

It's up to you. Your list atm can be quite competitive and, if the dice favour you, could give top tier lists a run for their money. Also, if you have played the screamerstar a lot and understand how to get the most out of it then it might be your best bet: experience with a list is almost, if not more, important than the list itself.

Could definitely give both a shot in time. I have plenty of hounds to run a murderhorde it's more the Renegades side of things I'd like To to get a handle on as far as purchases go. Only down side I see as far as going murder horde is relinquishing any influence i might have on the opponents psychic phase. As it stands now I have a decent shot at denying key stuff like rerolling saves amd or endurance.

The is basically the list i run except instead of screamers and Quad Launchers I take a Tzeentch Chaos Knight. It's a very strong list

My advice is to split the Ordnance batteries into single gun units. You don't gain anything by putting them together except the ability to cast prescience on both of them. But splitting them up lets you target different units and makes your earthshakers more accurate (multiple barrrage rules are very mean to Large Blasts). Also i would find some points for a 2nd R&H HQ so you can put your zombies in a CAD for ObSec.

If you have lots of hound models you could consider running them as R+H spawn? They're a fun and competitive unit, and a tide of them would give your opponent something they can't ignore while you pound them with ordnance and summon daemons. You'd need to trim down something though...

An additional purge detachment could net you this for 385pts:

Command squad with autocannon 55pts

Spawn x3 55pts
Spawn x3 55pts
Spawn x3 55pts
Spawn x3 55pts
Spawn x3 55pts
Spawn x3 55pts

I also second the advice of putting the zombies in a CAD and breaking the big guns into single model units. You have the slots for them

Aboard Terminus Est.

If you're taking spawn take some giant chaos spawn too!

80 points for a T6 monstrous creature is hilariously cheap. They're slow as all hell but they can act as a solid deterrent/fire magnet.

If you're taking multiple CADs (or the purge detachment) take 2, take 3! At such a bargain price why not.

No- it's your turn to die.
