Hey all!
This is an army that came out when I was taking a break from the game and I was thinking about how they could be as a standalone force, instead of allies. I'm also not really familiar with all the new formats that they came out with, like CAD, Unbound, etc. Formations I get, extra stuff for specific units. Anyways, here it is!
Airborne Assault Formation:
Lord Commissar, plasma pistol, power weapon, melta bombs
Command Squad, Tempestor Prime w/ plasma pistol, medi-pack, vox, x2 plasma guns
x10 Scions, vox, x2 hot shot volley guns
x10 Scions, vox, x2 meltaguns
x10 Scions, vox, x2 plasma guns
Valkyrie, x2 multiple rocket pods, sponson heavy bolters, multilaser
Valkyrie, x2 multiple rocket pods, sponson heavy bolters, multilaser
Valkyrie, x2 hellstrike missiles, lascannon
Valkyrie, x2 hellstrike missiles, lascannon
Unbound faction:
Troops
x8 Scions, vox, x2 hot shot volley guns, in a Taurox dedicated transport with TL autocannon, TL gatling cannon, camo netting and pintle heavy stubber
x8 Scions, vox, x2 hot shot volley guns, in a Taurox dedicated transport with TL autocannon, missile launcher, camo netting and pintle heavy stubber
Fast Attack
Taurox with TL autocannon, taurox battle cannon
This comes to 1844pts. I think it covers a lot of areas, high strength, lots of shots, lots of low AP weaponry, a fair amount of bodies and vehicles.
I'll be honest I don't know if the Unbound part of the list is legal, as I said I'm not overly familiar with it. If it is not legal, can anyone suggest a way to make it happen? The Unbound is meant to start on the table, in cover to start harassing the enemy and make it so the Valkyries and/or Deep Striking squads aren't the only threat the enemy has to focus on.
Having never played them, if any of you have tried this play style with this army I'd love you hear feedback and suggestions!
Thanks!

It is unbound since it does not follow a specific detachment.
A detachment is just a bunch of different battlefield roles (The most common being a CAD, 1-2 HQ's, 2-6 troops, 0-3 elites, fast attack, and heavy support. 0-1 LoW and 0-1 fortification).
The combined arms detachment is your take all corners sort of setup, and is the common default force organization chart.
A lot of armies will have different FOC's, like the Dark Eldar having the Realspace raiders, which allows like 6 fast attack.
Each FOC gives different benefits, CAD gives ObSec, etc etc etc.
If you army is entirely a formation or FOC then it is 'battle-forged", ergo, not unbound. If your army is a formation and a FOC, or multiple formations, or multiple FOC's then it is also battleforged.
Unbound lists are legal, but they are usually pretty frowned on.
Hope that helped a little bit.
As for the MT, I honestly can't help because I don't really have any experience with them.
Cheers!

Thanks for the reply, and definitely for the information! Ive seen the terms before but didnt have any context. Does Battle forged mean anything, or is it just a name?
Thanks again!

Battle-Forged means any combination of detachments and/or formations. As the previous poster mentioned, unbound is typically frowned upon and you'd be hard-pressed to find a tournament that allows it. That said, your list looks pretty good. I think you'll be disappointed with the Lascannon/Hellstrike Valkyries. Hellstrikes are ordinance weapons, which means if you shoot one you must snap shoot with everything else. As a result, you'll typically just want to use the Lascannon. It has higher strength and better AP, but still only resolves at BS3. It doesn't hurt to have one Lascannon variant, but the Multi-Laser/Rocket Pods is your go-to. I don't love Heavy Bolter sponsons. Their firing arc is awkward, so you won't get much use out of them. Your Gatling Taurox would be better equipped with Hot Shot Lasguns to give it a more focused anti-infantry role. Meltagun teams work best as 5-man suicide crews. They operate behind enemy lines and don't last long after hitting the table, so there's no need to waste the points on a larger squad.
I hope this helps!
