So, I really want to build a Chaos army of sorts as everything I have is Imperial. I really love the Siege of Vraks so I wanted to build something to counter my Krieg army. Here's what I came up with...

The Purge Detachment

(HQ) Command Squad (7) w/ covenant of Nurgle, ordnance tyrant, missile launcher, flakk, carapace armor - 140 pts

(E) Heavy Artillery Battery w/ (2) earthshaker carriage - 110 pts
(E) Heavy Artillery Battery w/ (2) earthshaker carriage - 110 pts
(E) Heavy Artillery Battery w/ (2) earthshaker carriage - 110 pts
(E) Chaos Spawn (3) - 55 pts
(E) Chaos Spawn (3) - 55 pts

(T) Plague Zombie Mob (50) - 150 pts
(T) Plague Zombie Mob (50) - 150 pts
(T) Plague Zombie Mob (50) - 150 pts
(T) Plague Zombie Mob (50) - 150 pts
(T) Field Artillery Battery w/ (4) heavy mortar - 120 pts
(T) Field Artillery Battery w/ (3) quad launcher, heavy mortar - 120 pts
(T) Field Artillery Battery w/ (3) quad launcher, heavy mortar - 120 pts

(HS) Hydra Battery w/ militia training - 70 pts
(HS) Hydra Battery w/ militia training - 70 pts
(HS) Heavy Artillery Battery w/ (2) medusa carriage - 160 pts
(HS) Heavy Artillery Battery w/ (2) medusa carriage - 160 pts

2000

As far as I can tell, this list is pretty insane. The sheer amount of pie plates being dropped each turn is crazy, even more so when each sticks around as dangerous terrain. Now throw 4 fifty strong fearless zombie tar pits that I am allowed to hit with my artillery, even if in close combat, and you have a brutal rage inducing army. Thoughts?

Drop the militia training on your earthshakers and upgrade some to medusa. The extra inch of scatter won't make much difference and the AP2 (as well as the strength) of the medusa is super useful for killing bigger and tougher things.

The earthshaker spam is vulnerable cause once your opponent gets within 36" you can't shoot. Though anything further is gonna be paste.

No- it's your turn to die.

Good point. Changes made above

I also have two favorite new units to spam -- chaos spawn, and giant chaos spawn.

They're pleasingly cheap and the chaos spawn are beasts so they can get up the field very quickly which helps to clear out back line objectives and keep things away from your artillery if necessary by providing forward pressure.

No- it's your turn to die.

I prefer to use my artillery to clear out the back line

I agree with that on so many levels, and I wish it could work that way, but sometimes you need a body on an objective, and zombies aren't the fastest. If you dropped 50 zombies you could take 9 spawn (which can also help tie down other fast movers for your zombies to catch up for the full tarpit).

No- it's your turn to die.

Earthshakers CAN shoot under 36". They are just forced to shoot directly and cannot shoot indirectly under that min range.

Always had a question about this. Does this mean they still get their template, or they have to fire like a normal gun (so one shot one wound)?

It fires directly like a normal Ordnance weapon; scatter 2D6 minus BS. Weapons that cannot direct fire are listed in the weapons summary (Colossus and Minotaur cannons for example).

Crazy list though, like the spawn suggestion.
