Dark Angels Neophyte Undergoing Surgeries

I've been playing Dark Angels for about 2 years now, but only really at 750 points and kill team levels (because it's taken so long for me to buy anything). I wanted to start playing an army at 1000 points that's quite fluffy. I really like bikes, and I think the Deathwing is cool. I'd like an interrogator chaplain in there, maybe with my Deathwing knights. I really need help building an army list that's semi-competitive, but also fits the DA fluff well. I like the idea of the Ravenwing charging ahead , with the Deathwing deepstriking and the greenwing holding objectives and the like. I don't want to spend a fortune, but Christmas is just around the corner, so... I currently own:

the Dark Vengeance set
The Dark Vengeance expansion set for Dark angels
Land raider crusader
venerable dreadnought
2 librarians
1 interrogator chaplain
5 company veterans
5 scouts
5 devastators

Any help would be gatly appreciated, thanks.

How are those models equipped?

Your most effective units will probably be, in order:
Black Knights
Scouts
Ravenwing Bikers

The other units are situational. At 1000 points the Devastators and dreadnought can be effective. Limit yourself to one HQ, probably a Librarian (always Mastery Level 2). Hopefully those six units get you close to 1000 points.

Shopping list:
---
Buy transports for the Tactical Squads. They're p much useless without them. One or three Drop Pods (odd number), the rest Razorbacks built to also be Rhinos.

To be competitive, buy more Black Knights, then build bike HQ's. (It's p easy to build a Librarian from the Black Knight kit, just use Champion bits and paint him blue.)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
oh if you need a 7th unit the flyer might catch some peoples off guard.

Thanks a bunch, man. How many tactical squads would you suggest owning?

Competitive answer: Either zero or six. You need six for a full Lion's Blade Battle Company, plus two Assault and two Devestator squads, plus ten transports. If you're not building a Battle Company, Scouts are almost always more competitive, not to mention Ravenwing.

Real answer: As many as you feel like painting. Sometimes I include one or two in a Drop Pod or Razorback in my fun gimmick armies. Be sure to make up your own unique chapter and color scheme; that way you can play them as any other chapter any other day.
