I'm currently living in a basement suite that's near a laundry room, so it always smells of laundry detergent. Is there anyway to make my suite not smell so much?

Seconded.

I came into this thread expecting a "worse" smell, but any odor that is constant and foreign would be annoying. Still, at least you aren't dealing with leeching cat piss or some other toxic aroma like mold, or rot.

Get a potted plant. A NASA study found that they're amazing at clearing indoor air pollution. I don't know if they'd help with detergent specifically, but they might.

Piggybacking off of that, I'd highly recommend an English Ivy. Unusually for air purifying plants, it also won't kill any pets you have. Got one a year or so ago for 2 dollars, and the thing has doubled in size, even though I occasionally forget to water it for a week or so. It is robust and sturdy. If you do have pets, just cross check for toxicity of plants for them first.

English doesn't borrow from other languages. It follows them down dark alleyways and mugs them for loose grammar.

All of the above.

I also recommend getting a few of those hotel coffee packs and setting those out. Coffee grounds are good at eliminating odor.
Example:

Also, it could be worse...you could live next to a sewage treatment plant.

I wasn't expecting a "When I get home I smell nothing but clean laundry" thread. I was expecting,"I(or my roommate) just smoked a bunch of Medicinal Herb and I need to get the smell out ASAP"
All in all, Get a HEPA filter, and some potted plants. They should help with any smells. I can't stand the strong smell of laundry detergent, I make my own(or buy if I forgot to make a new batch) unscented detergent.
