Recently I've been playing Ordo Reductor and I am still trying to get a feel for the army. Naturally I've run artillery tanks. This has included medusas, earth shakers, demolishers, and plane jane whirlwind launchers. My most recent game I proxied a Minotaur for playtest purposes and was pretty happy with how tough it was compared to the artillery tanks with the siege plating. I even had a squad of terminators run up and realize they couldn't hurt it with their lightning claws.

So, for those of you who walk the path of ruin, what are your thoughts and experiences on the artillery tanks of the reductor?

They are quite good. I´ve got a Medusa, an old Basilisk, a Mars-kollossus Bombard and a meltatank.

I haven't tried the melta or the bombard yet. They working alright for you? I hand an old chimera I've been thinking about making into a melta tank with a pair of heavy bolters.

I use a squadron of three Medusas and they're hilarious. POTMS means that when they're shaken or they move 12" they can still fire.

I use the thermal cannon variant a lot because of it's cheapness but it is easily castigated by your opponent taking aromatic ceramite on thier vehicles.
The small blast (i used to think it was large blast) can't kill troops like a medusa can. It usually lands where i want thanks to twin-linked though, so there is that.
The demolisher cannon is probably the best balance of anti-troop and anti-tank for cheap.
I can't comment on the collossus-bombard as i don't own one but the quad lascannon is handy

Yes. The Bombard is pretty scary. And the Meltatank.....well...... That one dies every time. Like my Adsecularii. I don´t know why, but my pals hate it....
And both are conversions.

The good thing about the Medusa is it has barrage, meaning it hits side armour, meaning it bypasses Flare Shields, making it far better antitank than the Demolisher.

My experience mirrors that of Ankhalagon - the DMCORAT becomes the enemy priority target every game i use it.
They have high risk attached to the weapon mounted, the armour rating is low; it makes for a good target for a lot of low strength weapons which usually don't get pointed at vehicles.

Thats a good point there Unit1126PLL, it does just about everything! (apart from snapshots)

If you give it POTMS it doesn't even ever have to snapfire.

If you've found a way to shoot a medusa seige gun at a flyer, share that loophole!

Assuming one would for whatever reason do so, where would you mount the pintle weapon on a Minotaur?

Another though, I'm thinking of modelling some crew. Who exactly crews mechanicum tanks?

"Skilled tech-priest weapon savants and gun-servitor control systems of the Autokrator" are apparently the crewmen of Mechanicum vehicles, or are at least the crewmen who take over non-mechanicum Superheavies when you give them the Autokrator Control upgrade.

I've stuck my pintle-mounted Fusil on the one side, roughly in the middle, sticking a little dedicated servitor chappy onto the handle.

As for crew, I believe that's usually a 'ghost in the machine' affair; the vehicle itself is turned into a servitor.
Might find some reclaimed body with hydraulics all over it, bolted into the driver seat in some cases.

The minotaur has a ladder just behind the drivers position leading up to a chequerplate level on the left side where you could custom mount a weapon.

I suppose you could justify any crew arrangement - my logic would be the more robotic and autonomous the crew were, the longer they would have been in possession of the Ordo Reductor.
I'm using old GW basilisk crew to man one of mine and every servo-arm and mechantendril in my bits box to crew the other.

Nice!

I'm particularly impressed with the Ordo Reductor heraldry on the sides of your ORATs, they look great!

How did you do them?

Thanks!

I just grabbed the Ordo Reductor crest or whatever the correct term is from the internet and used it to make a decal sheet. Shoot me a pm if you'd like the pdf.
