The Marine Standing Behind Marneus Calgar

There is a short story about a squad of BA termies getting ready to teleport into battle. I know it's in the red RT WD compendium, not sure of the original publication. Brother Levi has no problem loading his own stormbolter with a powerfist. Where they keep the spares is another issue, and not just for terminators, but most armies.

"Levi." The bolter's magazine was tiny in comparison to Levi's power glove, but he had no trouble in sliding it home. There was a click and the bolter's catch held the magazine. Levi shook his head, working the helmet seals carefully into place. His suit was battered and scarred and badly in need of repainting. It wasn't even in the proper chapter colours, having come from the Ultramarines armory a generation before. Bare metal showed in several places. Levi, like many of the suits previous users, had refused to let the Techmarines repaint it. Every time it's Ultramarines colours had been hidden, the suits wearer had been killed. Levi maintained that the suit knew it was only borrowed, and even the techs had come to believe the same. They had given up trying to persuade him to have it repainted in the proper colours.

The 3rd edition Grey Knight Terminators actually have extra mags modelled on.

Also recall that back in the old days Terminator armor always had a Teleport Homer.

They would carry extra mags, be able to de-power their powerfist to reload them, and then also might be able to have more ammunition teleported in to their proximity.

It all works out.

something like this fitting in a powerfist isn't unreasonable.

They don't run out of amunition because GW don't want them to. plausable realism means very little to the miniatures design team, This is apparent every time I look at one of my Tantalus, How does that thing not snap in half as soon as it takes off?

If it does not bleed, I have no use for it. Death to the False One, freedom to the Galaxy.

I honestly can't tell what is being suggested there. A gun up a sleeve? Or is that an auto re-loader up a sleeve?

Or do you mean that the Powerfist disengages and the marines gloved hand does the fine motor work?

It's a spare magazine up the sleeve combined with a mechanism in the gun - facilitates reloading.

It's still a "hollywood 6-gun" as they still fire more shots than they can reasonably be expected to hold.

Terminator storm bolters are hollywood 6-guns. They have unlimited ammo when they need it.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).

Right, its a reloading mechanism hidden in the sleeve of the character.
For a terminator, the spare box could be in a compartment of the powerfist, and they just have to slam the gun down on the exposed box to load it. The glove pivots of near the knuckles and the mags pop up, they reload the powerfist pops closed?

But ultimately Chromedog is correct, the boxes hold precisely the number of bullets necessary for plot to drive.
