First off, please don't post any 'destiny sucks' messages. I know it's a polarising game.

Now to the point; I brought destiny for the 360 about two years ago and I really enjoy it. But now they're no longer making new content for the last gen machines so I have to upgrade. Here's the issue; I received a Playstation 4 last Christmas, and my friends who still play games are all on the ps 4 too. But, there's no cross platforming in Destiny, so if I make the switch I'll lose all of my current characters, gear and progress. Having said that, I don't particularly fancy forking out the money for an Xbox One either. And Playstation seems to be the developers perferred choice for the game.

So...what do you think I should do? Bite the bullet and just start over on the PS4 or pay the money to carry on with the Xbox?

I'm an Xbox 360 player still playing Destiny - missed out on Rise of Iron, all the new Year 3 stuff and can't even do Trials or Iron Banner - I feel your pain.

I would personally suggest neither. With Destiny 2 on the horizon, and the fact that many seem to think it will remove all your progress, I say don't buy an Xbox One but don't buy Destiny for the PS4.

Of course, that's just my opinion.

If you bought Destiny over XBL then you should have Destiny on the Xbone for free...assuming that is how you purchased it.

Destiny really shines with a party - if you're not averse to starting out with new people/friends, the Xbone would be a great way to keep your gear.

Although, gearing up in Destiny is a joke when you have people to play with - so PS4 wouldn't make much of a difference I don't think.

I think I'll wait until the new year before making a decision, but if Destiny 2 does reset the whole process I will be very cross.

Well prepare to be very cross.

So wait, if I'll have to start over to play Destiny 2 anyway...then there's no point in saving my current characters.

Unless you buy an XBoxOne your characters are already done. Destiny has already moved on from the 360 so you can get a PS4 buy the game again and start over and hope you can keep your characters for Destiny 2 or buy an XBoxOne if you want to hope you can keep your existing characters when Destiny 2 arrives. Sticking with the 360 will keep your existing characters but you're already missing Rise of Iron and you won't be able to play Destiny 2 on it either so your characters are stuck in purgatory.

All the exclusive content goes to the PS4 anyway...I think I'll have to make the switch.

"Exclusive" meaning time locked, and it isn't known whether that is going to still be the case for Destiny 2 especially since one of the few confirmed things is that it will be on PC as well.

I think it's best to hold off until Destiny 2 arrives to see exactly where I'll stand afterwards. I can still play it on the 360 in the meantime.
