There's also the fact that small groups of loyalists attached to the traitor legions might have been quietly purged just in-case, after all istavan was about purging all those with suspected loyalties to the emperor, so some of the marines sent to die may have been loyal to Horus he just didn't know for certain. So if he's willing to do that would he risk a bunch of ultramarines in his party sending a message warning about Calth or a group of imperial fists, messaging terra about the fabricator generals loyalty.

Yeah, the individuals within a legion have way more than just primarch or emperor to sway their loyalty. I was looking at it from a very general view as to why things fell out the way they did on the Legion level, when you get down to individuals at the chapter/squad/legionary level it becomes so much more complex. Excellent point.

There's mention in one of the HH Black books of a Wolf Company wearing the Eye of Horus, who turn up to slaughter Loyalists.

Each Legion has contrary elements. I guess that FW unconsciously roots for the Loyalists.

My $0.02, which since 1992 has rounded to nothing. Take with salt.

In addition, Book 6 talks specifically about incidents such as Loyalists being attacked by marines who wear the Eye of Horus that suspiciously look like Raven Guard marines. I think it also straight up talks about Iron Hands fighting for Horus after Istvaan V. So there are more examples of traitors from loyalist legions.

Though I agree with the basic point of the OP. It is kind of odd that we have specific characters who are loyal traitors but no specific characters that are traitor loyalists.
