So I need a piece of wood (or similar material) to prime my miniatures on. Where's a good place to get a clean piece of wood in the right shape?

Because it doesn't have enough length to it. I need something heavy enough to stay weighed down against the blow of the primer spray while at the same time being long and thin enough to be able to place a line of 20 miniatures along it would enough space between them for coverage.

A simple cardboard box works fine for spraying your mini's with a spray can.

A metre ruler from ebay?
Perhaps cut it in half?

I do my spraying on a couple 1x4 boards thrown over a pair of sawhorses. Keeps me from having to bend over and a layer of newspaper keeps the boards from getting too gunked up.

Well sometimes it's 2x4, or 1x12 or just whatever chunk of board I have leftover at the moment.

Go to a hardware store, and asking them for some wood painting stirrer's. You can mask your infantry models to it and spray away. Best part is they are free!

Not a bad idea either, but it looks to be on the thin side.... I can see the miniatures tipping over on that thing.

You could always go for a walk in a forest. Failing that, you could just use absolutely anything flat and cheap that isn't made of Styrofoam.

Try Home Depot, get some 1x2, a piece 3 feet long should cost you a testy look from the clerk and about $5.

I just blutack stuff to whatever I have on hand. I've used cardboard boxes, I've used old icecream containers, old bottles, old sprues (works well because you can spray up from under them). For small fiddly bits I just blutack them to icy pole sticks which are often shaved to the optimal shape.

I've never in my life considered *buying* something to attach miniatures to for spraying

While a bit involved my favourite method my buddy used in high school (he got this from his father) was pretty simple and effective. He (of course) painted one miniature at a time so he could do this:

Simple dowel rod --- insert w/ epoxy into the end of those tiny alligator teeth clips you can get at an electronics store. This gave a good grip on the old slotta-base tab. He'd prime the model and then stick the dowel under a box on a shelf (hanging out in the open).

Simple and effective...but took a little start up assembly. Probably a pain in the butt for armies though.
