Hey everyone. Looking for some discussion on necrons. I want to step up my competitive play with them but am really wanting some good discussion.
This is my most recent list.
HQ always changes
Decurion
Reclamation
7 immortals (usually goes up or down depending on points, typically put warlord in here and camp an objective)
5 tomb blades with kitted out)
2x10 warriors (i have been running a ghost ark but from discussion pages i'm hearing they really are not worth it anymore, but i'm on the fence still)

Aux
Deathmarks x10 (these are not reliable, but have one games against inexperienced opponents. I feel that they are decent for the cost and are flexible, but if i don't put an HQ with the veil in there I cant drop them twice to abuse their special rule of wounding on 2+)

minimum Canoptek Harvest (To be completely honest i am weary of running multiples of these because all they really are is a solid tarpit. It can be easily countered against a good opponent. Is it not getting the desired results because i only run 3 wraiths with whip coils?)

So from there i have also ran the living tomb with 1 obelisk and 1 monolith. Deep striking this is a nightmare and i have terrible luck, running it down the board is much better but i don't really see 500 points worth of results from it. Maybe if i found a unit to push through the monolith it would work better, and i always forget i can pull a unit of the table to walk out of it.

Stargod - Nightbringer, So much love and hate for this guy. He has single handed taken down a dimachaeron and a trygon prime, or he does NOTHING.

Judicator battalion is something i have been playing with but i really wish the staves were S6 and not S5. AP2 helps and they are mobile which is nice.

Destroyer Cult - I am leaning toward this and saving up for the models, also seems to be included in almost every tournament placer in bloodofkittens listings.

Royal court - I have ran this with many different choices and found completely random results. I don't think it is strong enough for competitive, i just have all the hq's and 5 crypteks so its easy to help with getting points maxed out and its fun to do an orikan/20man warrioir blob that moves with vargard obyron to namesor.

I also LOVE the Sentry Pylon with focused death ray, but it doesn't come in a decurion detachment, so if i want to run this with a decurion i have to run a CAD, which i have been thinking maybe a cryptek or 2 and minimum warriors or immortals.

What exactly are you trying to say, here?
(because it kinda sounds like you're trying to do something you can't).

Also, yes, there's a reason you see Destroyer Cults all the time.
They're the killiest formation in the codex.

If you're going for tournament-competitive just go for Reclamation Legion, Destroyer cult and a Canoptek Harvest with beefed up wraiths (go for 5-6). Then, you will have some points left over to either beef up your troops, maybe add another squad of 10 warriors, or some deathmarks that you really like, or do some tricks (like a royal court with orikan etc).

As for the Immortals squad camping in the back with your overlord. Drop squad size to 5 if you're actually going to camp them. Equip them wih tesla (at least I prefer them that way) and don't put your overlord there, he's actually a strong model and quite a point sink, make use of him. Completely forget about ANYTHING containing Ctan. The living tomb and the Judicator battalion CAN be competitive, but they're very niche and hard to play. I suggest the Reclamation Legion+D.Cult+Canoptek harvest for a standard tournie list.

I've played and seen played with a fair amount of success the following:

Reclamation Legion
Destroyer cult (3 units of 4 destroyers)
Canoptek Harvest (3 wraiths)
Royal court (Zandee, lord, OL, Orikan)

RC and the DL runs with the wraiths acting as your death star - I'm doing this from memory but I believe that's was in the list. Like I said I've seen it do really well at local tournaments and against WAC players.
