How about we just say this and make this whole thread boil down and be solved.
Lightning Strike: If a unit has deep strike, or disembarks from a transport of anykind and is a dedicated melee class (No ranged weapons, HQs do not factor in) They my assault on the turn the disembark or deep strike, but do so as if is a disordered charge.
You can then apply this rule to units as needed.
Banshees, assault terminators, Deathwing knights, assault marines, ect ect.
BOOM! problem solved you can now deep strike your melee units into combat and have them actually do something reather then sit there for a turn looking like dick heads. This also would make howling banshees playable again. Terminators a bit more scare, and you can assault outta a drop pod if you are assault maries, or of the like.
It also makes it so for things like terminators they cant deep strike, open fire AND charge you.
Overwatch: Dont change a thing, shooting is already way to strong is this ed, and overwatch in 2nd and 3rd was crazy OP and result in in games where no one would actually move anywhere because it was not worth it.

right I need to rethink this whoke thing cause no deep assault rule's gonna work unless there's a solid counter to it
as for the idea of only allowing units with dedicated cqc loadout to use the rule. It may seem a simple work around but couldn't realisticaly work.
A couple of the main uinits that were supposed to benefit from this rule where Dark Eldar Wyches and Hekatrix blood brides assaulting from Raider and Venom transports. And taking those units at the smallest size allowed would mean you still have to include bare minimum 1 splinter pistol.
No gun's simply wont work.
It might be cool if you only allowed pistol weapons, or pistol and assault weapons. It still needs work before it becomes a working game mechanic.

Reword it to no ranged weapons excluding pistols and grenades boom!
Also that's why normally you can't counter a deep strike assault, that's why normally it's not allowed because a lot of people don't realize how powerful assaulting from deep strike is.

That's why I festricted it to vehicles in the first place. there are simply to many units with deep strike that are more deadly on foot and if could assault staight out of deep strike would uber hentch.
One thing that's destroying this game is first turn deep strike. The game is craptarded until that steeming dung pile is removed.
And we have to get rid of and under no circumstance allow risk free deep way way out of line totaly ruins the game. Automatically Appended Next Post: Look I'd give up on changing any core or special rules if someone would tone down and fix ISM. I'd love to have an Imperial Space Marines army again.
But I can't all the while playing with them is blatant cheeting.

No turn one Deep strike is hardly the problem with SM being so strong it's their formations and grav that give them that, again, we need to pick a form to consolidate this to, either this one or the general form one, then request the other locked. They are the same topic no need to spread them out. Really not a fan of the holding fire/Overwatch rules of old - I have memories of 2E games that were very WWI, with both sides stalemated waiting for the other to move first and get popped.
Also, minor nitpick - shouldn't the DS roll follow the standard GW pattern of 1 being bad stuff instead of 6?

I like this proposal. It still gives some tactical flexibility to units who're assaulting from deep strike while stopping people abusinng the rule with 50/50 kill teams which do everything.
As for which thread I wish to keep open I would say this one.
With the first one Iwas merely testing peoples reactions to and appetite for assault from deep strike. Whereas here we're formulating a usable rule. This thread is by far the most important and interesting of the two.
