So if there is one thing that Harlequins are not good at (yes there are plenty but bare with me) its staying in their back field and camping a home objective when that proves necessary. Well I've found something that works quite well. I took Inriam's Spectre and 3 other death jesters as a single unit. Now you look at me and say " why arent you just taking more shadowseers?" well it was a friendly tournament so I brought them for fun then they turned out to be a beastly unit that made my list much better over all. So whats the application in a competitive version? Cegorach's Revenge. That formation that forces you to fill a whole masque basically, but often doesn't get run because you're paying 180 points for death jesters that either have to be alone, and therefore die, join a unit and either bump a shadowseer out or make the whole unit walk, making them die all together and never make it to combat. So by paying the 10 extra points you can now run those death jesters in a much safer clump. They grab a piece of terrain and hold on for dear life. This is totally worth it for the re-rolling 1s on your invuls, especially for your solitaire when he needs to make it up to kill someone, 3++ re-rolling 1s is bamf territory. It also helps you keep vehicles alive in the early game before you get the chance to close. I think this has some huge opportunities in it, so consider it when you're making your list,

I just have Corsair allies, gives me Warp Hunters, Hornets and a Flier. with a IC a 5man and a Baron as a JSJ unit to get objectives on a 1 dice Scatter DS.

Its a cheap ally unit that fills some harlequin holes.

True, through the use of allies you can do alternatives, however this is more of a how can I do it to make something that's a tax in the formation not suck.

Couple of things...

Firstly, you cant run 3 DJ and the spectre in the revenge - 2 plus the spectre yes - but 3 and spectre is a no.

Running harlies on foot with a SS and DJ is heaps effective if you know what you are doing - I would go so far as to say the starweaver are a massive death trap for harlies and better used in the firesupport role that you mention.

I ran 3 plus him in a masque, 2 plus him in revenge. And I hate having DJs in my units, makes me want to shoot with them, and shooting with them means not running, not running means not making a charge.
