Did a nice 40k game I want to share:

Battle report 1850 Genestealer cult VS Hellforged Hunting Pack

Genestealer cult armylist (thats me):

Hellforged Hunting Pack

Greater Brass scorpion of khorne + 8x mauler fiends


MISSION

- Emperors will 4 VP each
- differents in kill points (max 8)
- Spoils of war (Tactical objectives)*
- Dawn of war deployment

* Its a different tactical chart and I'am not really going to into the tactical objectives the armies claim because it doesn't matter in regard of the end result.

GENESTEALER CULT WARLORD TRAIT + POWERS

Warlord trait: 6 (choose result on ambush table)

Psykers all go for Broodmind powers:

Patriarch warlord: 2/3
patriarch: 2/3
magus + familiar: 126
magus: 5/6

Khorne gets to deploy and first turn:

DEPLOY KHORNE:

scorpion in the middle and 4 maulerfiends left and 4 maulerfiends at the right, simple as that.



DEPLOY GSC

All models deploy (or infiltrate with subterean uprising) backfield. Only scorpion cannon (10 shots bskill 3) could hurt sum models but not enough to do anything. GSC units are fearless, shrouded, and get to replenish d6 models with return to the shadows/cult ambush. I proxied two big units acolytes with poker chips.





1. TURN KHORNE

Moving forward + run and picking up 2 tactical objectives.


1. TURN GSC
Everything going into the shadows and only leaving a unit of genestealers behind (got to leave sum thing on the table).


2. TURN KHORNE

Not much to do then be prepared for the gsc-wave. One maulerfiend protects the scorpions butt. Two tactical objective claimed by maulerfiends that went forward and made a run move.


2. TURN GSC

My big subterean uprising acolyte unit with primus trows a 2,2,3. I have to deploy them 9 inch away. Damn...

My big acolyte unit with warlord-patriarch + 2x magus + icon choose to have the "6" result (warlord trait) and deploy leftflank 3 inch away from the maulerfiends.



two metamorph units also got a 6 result and the deploy in front of the maulerfiends on the other side in front of the maulerfiends. My other big acolyte unit with patriarch deploys at the right flank so that I got a fearless bubble over there as well.


Also small unit of acolytes got a "6" result and I deploy them next to a wandering maulerfiend.

The rest deploys near the other units or simply walk on from the table edge or outflanks (result 1 and 2 cult ambush) genestealers go into the shadows.

PSYCHIC PHASE:

I got 4 psykers with two dice each and i trow another 1 warp charge.

I give my big warlord acolyte unit 'might from beyond' and with that the got rage + 1 strenght and also psychic stimulus (fleet). at the right flank I gave 1 unit metamorphs also 'might from beyond'.

ASSAULT PHASE:

Small acolyte unit assaults a single wandering maulerfiends and the go first ( my other GSC units could kill maulerfiends and then the rest gets an extra attack for each dead maulerfiend).


I knew that maulerfiends tendrils gives units -1 attack in base to base but I forgot that each model got two sets, so that a -2 attack for every model in base to base....
My 5 acolytes get wiped but the gave the maulerfiend a immobilised result. thats one useless maulerfiend so iam happy with that.

At my right flank I want both metamorphs to assault 2 maulerfiends. One of them (the unit with the extra psychic buff) trows a 3 for assault, so its not happening. grrr

The unit that does assault can manage to take 2 + 1 hullpoints from the maulerfiends. 4 metamorphs are dead but the take a powerfist with them to the grave...


At my left flank the Big warlord acolyte unit also assaults 2 maulerfiends.

The remove two hullpoints from each maulerfiends so thats not bad. Only 1 dead acolyte in return so thats good.



3. TURN KHORNE

MOVEMENT/SHOOTING

2 maulerfiends move toward the 10 metamorph unit and 5 metamorph unit. With the icon the could assault next turn with furious charge so its better for the maulerfiends to engage and keep the initiative.


Scorpion + maulerfiend move toward my metamorphs (that failed to charge) and then I realised that the scorpion also got a flamer (forgot about that one). Flaming the metamorphs + 5 acolytes behind them + big blast and 10 shots on the big patriarch acolyte unit, really leaves a mark.


OEF....


ASSAULT

scorpion assault the 4 remaining metamorphs and the sidekick maulerfiend is going to help out his buddies with the other metamorph unit thats still in close combat. scorpion makes his hammer of wraith hit + uses smash to kill only 2 metamorphs. Now he can still stomp... .

He gets 4 stomp blast and the first one gets a 1 result so the 2 metamorphs are still save and keep him in close combat. but the other 3 stomps go directly to the patriarch unit behind them and he gets a 5,6,6 result, and killing them all....


Sidekick maulerfiend helps out his buddies. metamorphs kill one maulerfiend but get down to two models and without the patriarch the start to run.



Warlord unit destroy only one maulerfiend and only got 1 casualty in return. THis sucks, I really wanted to be out of close combat. But the more acolytes pile in the more the get to be in base to base contact and get a -2 attacks.


Meanwhile the unit 10 metamorphs and 5 metamorphs do nothing in close combat and the both get two casualties.


3. TURN GSC

MOVEMENT
2x neonphytes + 2x 5 acolytes go into the shadows and genestealers come back with a 1 result so the are again deployed behind the defence line being useless.
Big acolyte unit with primus move towards a lonely maulerfiend and gets a 6 inch move.


PSICHIC PHASE

I want some reinforcements! I'am summoning 10 acolytes with 4 rock saws (white poker chips) I put them behind the tower and hope the get useful later.


ASSAULT PHASE

One acolyte that got flamed in the face assaults the scorpions butt. I just hoped that the could keep him in close combat for another round but thats not going to happen. The die..


warlord unit destroys the remaining maulerfiend and now the are sitting duck.


Unit metamorphs do nothing and a few get killed in the proces.


Big acolyte unit with primus tries to assault but with 8 inch + terrain that was a bit ambitious anyway... the small unit metamorphs hits gets one hullpoint but get killed in the process.


4. TURN KHORNE

With 5+ blood points the summon 5 fleshhounds(conversion)in the backfield.


MOVEMENT/SHOOTING

2 maulerfiends move around the building towards the fresh summoned acolytes with rock saws.


maulerfiend that didn't get assaulted by the primus unit now turns around and moves in to assault himself.


Scorpion is moving towards the warlord unit and starts shooting. flaming the warlord unit + 10 shots with hellcannon on the summoned acolyte unit and big blast on the primus unit. big blast scatters a bit and takes out 3 acolytes.


ASSAULT

3 remaining Metamorphs hit back with succesfull immobilised result and two hullpoints down. the die in the process... maulerfiend is going nowhere.


Summoned rock saw unit lost a few acolytes because of scorpions shooting, and two maulerfiends kill the unit before the rock saws get a chance to swing.


scorpion kills all models except the patriarch and icon..oef...


maulerfiend assault the primus acolytes and kills a few. rock saws are to far away and patriarch is still alive (fearless) so the keep locked in close combat.


4. TURN GSC

MOVEMENT
genestealers go back in the shadows

acolytes come out of the shadows but I dont really got a purpose for them (no 6 result) so i keep them behind the defence line.


neophytes units get a 5 (extra shooting) and 6 result and i deploy them near the fleshhounds.


SHOOTING

neophytes units shoot down the 5 flesh hounds.

ASSAULT

Scorpion kills patriarch and icon...


Primus unit can use its rock saws now so by by maulerfiend.


5. TURN KHORNE

MOVEMENT/SHOOTING

Maulerfiends (that killed the summoned rock saw acolyte unit) move back and try to defend the emperors will objective.


Scorpion moves toward the primus unit and shoots them with the flamer + 10 shots hellcannon and puts the big blast on the neophyte unit. a few acolytes die but the big blast scatters and only takes down 1 neophyte.


ASSAULT

scorpion assaults but gets a 1,1,2, result... no assault happening...


5. TURN GSC

neophytes go back into the shadows.

acolytes behind the defence line move + run towards the emperors will objective


genestealers come in and deploy 6 inch from the maulerfiends but with a succesfull run move the will contest the objective.


Primus unit moves +runs towards the same maulerfiends. If theirs going to be another turn then the scorpion got to make a choice..


And we do play another turn.. dang...

6. TURN KHORNE

scorpion assault the primus unit and destroys it and makes a succesfull consolidate move to contest the emperors will objective.


maulerfiends assault the genestealers and destroy them to..


6. TURN GSC

neophytes come in and deploy + run and contest the emperors will objective near the maulerfiend. acolytes keep contesting the emperors will objective with the scorpion.

THE END.

KHORNE got more tactical objectives and the max 8 killpoints so thats a solid win...

Man this was brutal. fun but brutal....

He's very good at making his own molds.. Its a maulerfiend body upside down with short scorpion tale and scorpion plates/leg's.

We once played a tournament with 3x hellforged hunting packs.

khorne: 8 maulerfiends
tzeentch: 2 helldrakes + 6 maulerfiends (my army)
Nurgle: 2 soul grinders + 6 maulerfiends

Very cool and it looked like an interesting battle. The all Khorne murder machine list was neat.
