Subject: Alpharius Questions

Sorry, one of my first posts but I am starting an Alpha Legion army and while I think Dynat is going to be my go to HQ I had some questions about Alpharius for those Philadelphia Battles.
1) Alpharius can begin the game embedded in any Troop choice which presumably means anything that can hold an objective including a Tactical squad? If so what happens when he is revealed ala is he still considered jump infantry for the battle?
2) As Veterans, that squad has Implacable advance which means its a scoring unit which I assume also means Alpharius can start the game embedded with them, however if he is the last survivor or a point and had started in a squad with that rule, does he retain it?

I do not believe Alpharius gains any of the rules of the unit he starts hiding in.

No and No.
Alpharius replaces a model when he is revealed.
You actually just lose a model and replace him with alpharius.

So I am assuming that also if you did attach him with an Assault squad he wouldn't, even while in disguise, have the jump infantry abilities correct?

I think youve misunderstood bis rules. Until revealed Alpharius isnt on the table. You just have a normal assault marine. He isnt placed in a squad he just swaps out with a marine when revealed.

Do you still have to pay the points for the marine out of which he spawns? I.E. the cost of said marine is included in the cost of Alpharius, or do you still have to buy the marine knowing that he is destined to be removed and therefore 10+ points wasted?

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Yes.
However, it's 10-15 points to hide a Primarch.
Hardly wasted.

That's a good point. I didn't think about it from that perspective.

Look at it from Alpharius' perspective. He still has to distribute supplies, administrate formations etc. as if his squad numbered X, even though one of that squad is actually himself in disguise. Otherwise everyone will be able to tell that the squad that is treated as one less is obviously the one with Alpharius in it!

I'm sure he'd fudge the paperwork to make it seem like all his units are smaller than they actually are anyway
