I recently recieved an army that is contain within (a lot) of battlefoam. I am looking for a cheaper alternative for transporting those trays. Not on an airplane or anything, just to keep safe in my car. Ideally I'd need as much storage as a PACK 1520XL.

if it has to be a 'case' then the cardboard ones from https://www.feldherr.net/feldherr-storage-boxes-1/ are pretty cheap

but as long as it just has to hold foam i'd go for those cardboard storage boxes you get at ikea and similar

Also, while not cheap new...if you can source any kind of second hand Pelican/Hardigg case, they're golden. Definitely not cheaper than a bag.

Having tried Battlefoam (crap), I'll be looking for more foam inserts to go in some spare Pelican cases I have laying around. My primary case at the moment is old GW foam stuffed into a Pelican case - works a treat.

Miniatures Market and Warstore have picked up the company GamePlus which I'm a big fan of. They produce bangs and foam to accomodate the standard size that Sabol/PortableWarfare/etc accomodate. The bags are spacious and nicely priced.

Prior to Gameplus, I've used Sabol (low quality, decent price) and Portable Warfare (great quality, acceptable price). Best thing is that all the foam trays from these companies work well together.

I've heard a lot of good things about KR Multicase as well, but don't use them myself because of their unconventional sizes.

What do you find "crap" about the Battlefoam bags? Genuinely curious.

Yeah, I've got one of the Battlefoam bags for FOW and I know at least a half dozen other people with the same bag. We are all pretty happy with them.

Earlier battlefoam bag models would fall apart, especially if you had metal models filling the bag. Their pockets are inconveniently placed and sized, and even the straps get in the way of the pockets and operation at times.

Over time they've corrected these issues as they've come up, so the product you see now is pretty good, but it wasn't always so. However, the pocket situation was just replaced with a modular, but also expensive molle system.

I've been looking for an alternative too and was about to try Portable Warfare but they're always out of stock when I'm ready to buy. So gameplus seems like a good option.
