Considering Celestine by herself in metal was $25....I can handle that.

Still dudes in power armour plus they could replace the current fugly sculpts.
My gut would be very surprised not to see CSM vs SM, however.
But I would love SOB or IG against CSM. That could be a campaign starter with other starters being the 'arrival' of reinforcements.
You are aware that there is a CSM vs SM starter set in stores right now?

Space Marines are the flagship army, so it is pretty much a given that the Starter Set will always contain them. The opposition army is what changes. I think Space Marines v. Tyranids would probably be a good bet for the next Starter Set (probably with Ultramarine emblems). Or maybe Black Templars v. Tyranids, because the Templars are awesome.
I really would like to see more from these Sisters of Battle models.

Space Marines + Allies would definitely be a good way to mix in something else with Marines, but I don't see them allowing the stage to go to another army (unlike CSM who will at least give Cultists some space).

Good point. If they released a 5-10 battle sister unit to be part of the SM force in the new starter.
That would likely sell very well. Resellers would buy them to put the SoBs on ebay, especially.

Canoness + a unit of 10 Battle Sisters with a Superior mixed in with 15-20 Marines and their Captain or Chaplain would work pretty well. It's about the same model count we'd normally see plus would give two HQs in the same box for the Imperium.

Just had a thought: If Fall of Cadia really is the start of 8th they could do a combined Imperial faction style list with 10 BT, 10 Sisters and 10 Skitarii vs 10 CSM, 10 Cultists and 10 Daemons.
Or something like that.

I need to acquire plastic Skavenslaves, can you help?
I have a blog now, evidently. Featuring the Alternative Mordheim Model Megalist.

"The language of modern British politics is meant to sound benign. But words do not mean what they seem to mean. 'Reform' actually means 'cut' or 'end'. 'Flexibility' really means 'exploit'. 'Prudence' really means 'don't invest'. And 'efficient'? That means whatever you want it to mean, usually 'cut'. All really mean 'keep wages low for the masses, taxes low for the rich, profits high for the corporations, and accept the decline in public services and amenities this will cause'." - Robin McAlpine from Common Weal |

I know I know... you will all shout at me for saying this but I think there will be more than 3 models in the box and I believe Celestine will be a 3 bit upgrade. Yes yes, tell me I'm wrong and that they wouldn't sell a 3 girl Seraphim box... I know it's hard to understand but that is what they have shown us, there just might be more to the kit than 3 models, maybe.... just maybe.... there are 2 more models in the box... Then again it could be a Broodcoven type box with 3 characters in it. Broodcoven costs $60 and only has 3 models (+2 familiars). I just think it'd be pretty dumb to create a 3 model box that you'd only ever buy a single one out of and the models look exactly like Seraphim. Then again what do I know of smart business practices. Perhaps releasing a box of 3 models and then another box with 5 almost identical models that do the same thing is smart? But they are Gemini and not Seraphim! Pfft, they look exactly like Seraphim, replace the wings with a jump pack and remove the wing bits on the boots and the birds and Celestine looks exactly like a Seraphim as well. I predict Celestine will be 3-5 bits in the Seraphim box; Head, Flowers on sword, Wings, Leg wings, doves and the extra long parchment flight stand. The rest could just as well be a Seraphim Superior.

The artwork depicts only Celestine and the Gemini. GW only makes artwork of existing models as they appear in model form with little to no artistic licence. I would predict that it's just 3 models in the kit. No options.

Artwork shows Celestine, the Gemini and a Priest.
That said I don't see Celestine being a dual build. Not that it's impossible to do so anyways, but I have a gut feeling that they didn't goat route with her.

Oh yes. But I don't think that would stop them doing another set.
More SM is almost a given. If the new starter is linked into Fan of Cadia where CSM are the main villain then it would follow that they would appear in the box.
As I said, this would give GW an opportunity to release updated CSM 'tactical' marines to replace the current models. Done well, they would fly off the shelves and whet the appetites of CSM players.

Nope I am simply going off the last decade or so of GW's own actions, which now you mention it I can see some similarities.
As for the rest of your comments GW have tended to manufacture the evidence they felt they needed to support there own position.
When AoS was put in motion it was done after sales fell supporting there opinion that more money could be made elsewhere. But they had themselves caused this stagnation in 2 ways. Firstly they had tried to increase sales by reducing prices however they only reduced the price on certain units, however they mostly chose cav kits of which only a limited amount were needed per army also after the edition change cav sucked donkey dick. They then looked at the sales figures and stated as they expected reducing prices only lost them money.
Secondly they created an edition based on huge blocks of infantry then all new releases were released with they highest price per minature that GW ever produced upto that point. They then used this information to axe fantasy for AoS which kept the price per minature high but needed less minatures.

They put AOS in motion circa 2012 when FB was top-3 selling game. Sales started only dropping AFTER AOS was already in motion. Something to do with lackluster releases that were far and between...
So you are putting in timeframe for plastic sisters at best at...what? 2018? Not 2017 as if they were to base fate of line on the sales of this then 2018 would be earliest they would have project go from start to shops and that's high-speed production.
People claimed death watch board game was testing potential for deathwatch. Wrong. By the time board game was on sale the individual boxes were already pretty much done and ready for selling. Lead time was way too short.
Same for genestealer cult.

If Trazyn is involved then that and the beast arises surely means that the most obvious loyalist primarch to return is Vulkan.
Given his current status as necron lawn gnome.
Or is this final failure of Abaddon't and he joins Vulkan as a Necron lawn gnome resulting in someone competent taking over the crusade and it finally getting as far as terra.

Given the size and detail of our new mechanos-fex I seriously doubt he's part of a boxed set, at this point I'm largely hoping plastic sisters weren't just someone pulling my chain, but the idea of Celestine being boxed up with easily 80 bucks of other miniatures? That's just cruelty.
