I agree completely but I don't see it happening. They're still releasing books for the current rules just last month and if we see more in another month or two then an incompatible ruleset is out of the question. We'll probably get yet another tweak that doesn't invalidate the dozens of codex books and supplements which invariably means that most the issues associated with them (like formations that give hundreds of points of free models) remain. Returning to the relative sanity (but still far from perfect) of 5th edition is a pipedream and I don't even think the remaining (at least "competitive") playerbase even wants that change. Looking at Reecius's recent ITS 2017 changes video, their community is still slightly shifting even more towards the current style encouraged gameplay instead of shifting to something more traditional. YMMV but this will be the first rulebook for 40k that I don't buy day 1 when it comes out since I got introduced to the game with the premiere of 3rd edition. I'm holding out until I hear exactly what (if anything of note) has changed.

It looks like they're keeping the overall results of the campaign, but are working it into a better narrative that suits their vision or the like.

There not retconing it, there expanding it. The events of the 13th crusade still stand.
Cant say I'm massively surprised that the new edition will be another rules tweak instead of a full overhaul. Even without the campaign and rules supplements 40k has a lot of army books that would have to be redone if there was a big change in the core mechanics of the rules.
That would be odd then. IIRC, there was a lopsided result in that the imperial players just submitted broad results whereas chaos players were more organized and focused on battles for planets leading to the weird compromise result of the Empire controlling sectors but not the actual planets in them.

Reminds me of the briefing in Return of the Jedi "With the Imperial fleet spread throughout the galaxy in a vain effort to engage us, it is relatively unprotected" . I'd write it as the Imperium tries to stop Abaddons forces from breaking through the wider Cadian gate. Not realising until its to late that his main objective is to take and hold the planet/system.

She's not that tall. First, the heels obviously, but also she's on a new 32mm base while the Primaris is on the old 25mm base - the 32 is almost twice as thick - and the Primaris is pretty titchy anyway. Not to mention difference in pose. Side-by-side with a modern GW human on the same thickness of base in the same pose, I'd wager she'd only be a little taller even with the heels.

Anyone else notive 40k seems to be moving forwards in terms of model posture? No more squatted diaper stances for the legs on new models.
I for one like this since it makes models taller without mucking with the scale and just generally looks better.

And he starts off by commenting on 3 of the new formations for Chaos in Fall of Cadia....
Bringers of Despair, Hellforged Warpack and Black Legion Warband.
Wait.

They're reprinting the Black Legion rules AGAIN. In Fall of Cadia.

In the Fall of Cadia book are two new detachments for the Imperium - quoting from the english WD one is for 'combined forces of the Imperium' and the other 'combined forces of the Adeptus Mechanicus'. Plus a formation called Triumvirate for the three new character models. There are new 'relics and arcana for the Ecclesiarchy, and the Adeptus Mechanicus respectively', 'Inquisition Tactical Objectives', the d66 'Empyric Storm chart' and 4 Echo of war missions. EDIT: I stand corrected, the battle report says new formations for Chaos but the actual book preview doesnt...
Echoes of War missions:
- Cawl vs Orks on Eriad VI
- in the bowels of the Imperial Fist fortress starship The Phalanx where Daemons run riot
- 3rd and 4th scenario are on Cadia (the last mission is used for the battle report)
- WD comes with another, exclusive mission (see yesterday's photo on War of Sigmar)

Hmm. Interesting. The Inquisition tactical objectives and the new relics for Ad-Mech and Sisters - we need more on those.
Odd that the battle report mentions new formations for Chaos (which are reprinted ) yet the preview apparently doesn't?
I just want some concrete info on this bloody book.

Well he is also likely to be leading a horde of bloodthirsty maniacs killing, looting and pilaging, plus Daemons tearing at the sanity of all nearby and saying how you will serve him - one way or another, in life or death. He doesn;t turn up on his own

I was gonna combine my Templars with hopefully new plastic sisters anyway, this is all kinds of yes. Automatically Appended Next Post: Besides, The Wrathful Crusade seems to be a formation of IG and BT SM, judging by the WD anyway, which is better if you dont like sisters, well, unless you dont like guard either.

Receive information from the next pre - order Games Workshop will launch soon: all hope Fall of Cadia, the first book of the Gathering Storm collection. It is a hardcover book of 136 pages in Castilian with a narrative campaign. It has a price of 40 €. Triumvirate presents the Imperium - Celestine the Living Saint, Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl and Katarinya Greyfax the Ordo Inquisitor Hereticus. This book tells the story of how Abaddon the Despoiler deals a severe blow to the Empire with his attack on the planet Cadia. The book contains:
Complete rules for the Inquisitor Greyfax, Belisarius Cawl and Celestine.
Triumvirate Imperium - training to use these three characters together in one game.
Six new Relics for Ecclesiarchy and six Mechanicum Arcana objects, which can be used by the forces of the Adept Sororitas and Cults Mechanicum.
Training for The Grand Convocation and Imperial Crusade - combines the Cult Mechanicus, Skitarii and the Imperial Knights in an army. The other combines the Black Templars and Adepta Sororitas.
Battlezone: Empyric Storms - rules for the effects of the thunder storms that lash Cadia.
Four new missions.
Gathering Storm Fall of Cadia
Excellent illustration, apart from unpublished because it shows Marines in retreat. And who is the character in the red armor?
Additionally also they are available with the book of the Gathering Storm campaign: Fall of Cadia Battlezone deck of cards: Empyric Storms Cards: 36 cards detailing the events of warp storms. The cards can be used in any game of Warhammer 40,000 and serve for any army - it contains additional rules for psychic phase and additional effects for games.
Box The Triumvirate of the Imperium (65 €), it contains five plastic miniatures whose rules are in the book Fall of Cadia:
Inquisitor Greyfax
Belisarius Cawl
Celestine accompanied by his loyal Geminae Superia - The Eleanor Genevieve and sisters.
There will be more special characters. Of Chaos.

Just watch guys, the formation will literally be a re-print of the War Convocation. I wouldn't put it past GW at this point, everything about this book is looking disappointing thus far besides the new models. Why couldn't they just give BT player some token relics and formation or two with Crusaders in it. Can't be asking too much, can't be too hard can it? Man now I know how Traitor legion players felt.
BT players can use Battle Company, so they shouldn't complain too much.
And if a BT player doesn't want to use Battle Company because it uses Tacticals instead of Crusaders? It literally doesn't make any sense for BT to use Gladius or Battle Company.
