Is that written somewhere, most of my models don't have helms but can't recall it being stated why?

Being a personal bodyguard to Saint Celestine shows no merit?

I'd have dig further to know for sure but I think it was C:WH. Then again I've read so much fluff stuff I may be confusing sources.

Lexicanum says the helmet is from M38 so if they're using older armour it may not have a corresponding helmet (as blindly mixing and matching may offend the machine spirit (aka cause some operational bugs to occur) no one does that with power armour if they can help it).

So there is a reason Celestine doesn't wear a helmet (plus when you run on Emperitonium who needs a helmet to breathe in space?) at least.

Blame Vandire for not commissioning helms or claim that the Ecclesiarch does it to show that they're "women under arms" or that they don't need helmets because the Emperor Protects.

Basically IIRC it was GW's fluff reason for why 90% of the Sisters don't wear helmets.

Not blaming you.. I just find it awful personally.. I really don't enjoy models that represent people in battle that don't wear helmets.

I have this issue as well and I will make sure all my guys have helmets. Even in 30k when given the option I will choose a helmet over none. But it may also stem from me being unable to paint faces.

I hear you. I largely the same way (save for space Wolves which I think work better without helmets and with an emphasis on all the models having beards....).

Silly or not though it's what we've got until Sisters come out in plastic and hopefully come with enough helmets to make a full army of Sabbat helmed troops.

I don't understand the 'no helmet compaint.' 40k is an inherently over the top and absurd melodrama about chainsaw knights and cackling gods and mushroom men with Cockney accents. I don't understand why people would look for realism in such a goofy setting.

Because it reinforces our suspension of disbelief for the setting if we can have some level of real world logic woven in?

I don't know. I play an army of potentially psychically empowered space nuns who wield a Holy Trinity of weapons and have missile launching organ tanks while conducting massive wars of faith and literal witch hunts while worshipping a mostly dead man who had a fetish for the color gold.

I gave up trying to equate anything to reality myself and just try to go with what looks good.

1. This thread is not about them.
2. I never said that I like playing Space Wolves.

About the realism thing.. there is helmets in this game, so somebody in this universe understood that helmets help in battle.
I would never tell you how to assemble your models though, I just usually prefer mine with helmets.

Nothing yet. IIRC the preview videos go live at 12pm EST so we have a bit yet for Celestine.

And all reviewers/review copies as strangely missing so no other info either.

"About the realism thing"? Its got flying space nuns, I don't think realism is high on the agenda here.

We just got her video.

Ardent Blade has "Armourbane" now(2D6 for AP rolls, add the results together).
Her Saintly Blessings affect all Imperial faction units, not just Sororitas. One of them can grant It Will Not Die to Lords of War.

Thanks! I can't watch the video yet so this is a good read.

So Celestine and Greyfax look like auto-includes in most armies. Cawl is kind of hit or miss since he buffs vehicles and Ad Mech only.

Yeah I do understand that, but a flying space nun (which is ok in that setting since internally consistent) is still going to be a better soldier when she wears a helmet, unless of course their background states that their heads are never going to be shot at or they wear force fields instead of helmets so that their enemies may see and bear witness to the righteous fury, that the psychic might of the glorious emperor projects into their faces.

Genestealer cultists don't wear helmets. Checkmate Canadians!

Seriously though, just run the models the way you want. Getting all bent out of shape over helmets vs no helmets is silly.

I mean after all the real argument is what kind of helmet the Space Marine models should be wearing. My vote is Black Templars in Crusader Helms.

Based on that video she can:

-Revive herself (only once possibly?)
-Revive her Geminae (formidable fighters themselves)
-Can summon the emperor's will to incinerate swaths of the battlefield (no clue what this means, could be her heavy flamer template?).
-Has armourbane on her sword.
-Saintly blessings on the battlefield affecting all imperium units. HQs seem to get bonuses (renewed vigour). Lors of War gain "It will not die"

No mention on what her armor of st-katherine does, possibly unchanged.

I thought the "real argument" was that the LoC was too tall and brightly/wrongly coloured?

Or is that settled now?

According to a thread on B&C Celestine's Holy Light is a one use S8, AP3, Large Blast, Assault 1 shot.

And according to someone on /tg/ the Grand Crusade gives: Troops go back on 5+. Hatred. If you max any role - zealot. You can mix armies in this "cad"

its from the same source that gave us the combined imperial detachment, with no photots, and shoddy english, but supposedly was sneaking peaks at the book in store. Take with a grain of salt.
