I traded some orks with a friend a few years ago and I had a bag of Gorkamorka models thrown in to the mix beside the regular Orks. Despite all this time I've never checked; can you play Gorkamorka Orks in 40K games? And by Gorkamorka I don't just mean the old Trukks (which certainly are legal), but the ancient orks with human-like guns and weird elongated knuckle dusters. I suppose all I'll need to do is replace their thin base for a 40K base.

They were sold in boxes with 25mm bases for 40k when I brought mine.

Yeah, I have a few scattered through my Boyz mobs, and nobody's ever complained. They're no smaller than some of the older Orks were.

Although with some modification, they make great conversion fodder for Necromunda Goliaths, as well

What you need to do to use gorkamorka orks:

a) figure out what rules to use(mostly weapons but frankly doubtful gorkamorka orks have problems there)
b) that's it

You don't even need to change the base if you don't want. Technically as long as it has base it came with it's fair play rule wise.

Its base is only wide enough for it to stand on. Like this

I know the type but if that was all it came with then that satisfies GW's requirements.

Now players of course can be putting on additional restrictions but as far as GW's rules go if it is based on what it came with(including no base) then that's fair play.

That doesn't really apply to models from different games.

The basing rules in 40K are written from the assumption that you're using 40K models.
