Hi guys,

im getting little bit lost with all the formations - i got the Traitor legions book infront of me and i still cant figure out if i can take Magnus on his own or not.

There is this "Formation" which is command choice - "Lord of the legion" that let you choose from Magnus, DP, Ahriman and Exalted sorcerer. Can you take it on its own?

Same goes for example with Spawn formation... can it be taken on its own?

Can you please exaplain me how it work - I really tried to search for it but no luck. Also if you can let me know where i can find it that would be great

Lord of the legion is not a formation. It is an auxiliary choice for the detachment and cannot be taken without the detachment.

Formations all will have a dataslate describing them.

So same goes for spawn then? And lets say deathmarks or flayed ones in Necron codex ?

Yes spawn and all other individual army list entries are not formations. There is quite a lot of descriptive text on every page for each formation detachment. Clearly says they are made up of formations and individual army list entries.

Simple. Can you find a Formation Datasheet that goes by the same name as the Choice in question?

soeaking of the thousand sons formations, am I blind or is there no formation that uses rubric marines?

The war coven has them, but with a three other unit tax per three squads of rubrics
