I actually got a little burnt out on 1850 and 2000, so thinking about going back to basics and playing with some of the newer players at the same time (including a friend I'm getting into the game who I'll let use my DA). In terms of kill team and 500 point games, what's your favorite army to use and what sort of list, staying somewhat competitive while still having fun.

I'm tempted to use deathwatch for kill team (two stalkers and a shotgun, with infernus and frag in a rhino) or maybe harlies in a starweaver, although I am a bit worried about the extremely low model count. I'm definitely not using my super boring min/max army of two tac squads with a ML each. If those lists don't work will probably play around with guard vets in a chimera.

I haven't thought about 500 but probably a camovet or mechvet list, or maybe a RW formation. Just want to branch out and try some new stuff. I feel like small games have a lot of potential to do the stuff that I can't in big games. Less careful planning and more casual killing. Just hoping I can talk some of the guys into switching around to a different format every now and then.

So as a repeat of the question, what sort of stuff do you like to run at small points games? Do you ever play small points? Keep in mind I'm only 20 minutes from the store so I can hop in almost any day for an hour game, don't have a several hour drive like a few on here.

1-2 500-750 points lists, single CAD. Any (CSM but now are used by a friend, mixed imperials like scions).
The problem in these games is still big units you cannot kill. It needs gentlemen. it worked better with friends with DA, GK and CSM, and better in 6th.

Kill team, absolutely and definitively IG platoon. Mortar, Autocannon and Missile launcher spread in PCS and 2 squads; 1 plasma, grenade launchers, sniper rifles.

CCS: 1 Mortar, 1 Sniper, 1 Heavy Flamer, Lt. with Boltgun
Squad 1: Plasma, Autocannon, sgt with Boltgun
Squad 2: Grenade Launcher, Missile Launcher, sgt with Boltgun

Give Ignore cover to one of the HWT, generally Relentless on the other, third specialist to taste. Remember; the officer can order Precision Shots, Pinning, Shot&Run (I won a game with objective with this once), Run with choice of dice, or have one infantry with lasgun double tap if no other option is better. Most of your men will duck in cover, but there sill always be some nasty weapon shooting baddies in the face. I called it the Whack-a-mole list.

I am sure people will post 2 veteran teams or a veterans + chimera kill team lists, too.

Generic characters disappearing? Elite units of your army losing options and customizations? No longer finding that motivation to convert?
Your army could suffer Post-Chapterhouse Stress Disorder (PCSD)! If you think that your army is suffering one or more of the aforementioned symptoms, call us at 789-666-1982 for a quick diagnosis!

How well do tyranids (as little bugs) do in Kill Team?

I've only ever played against genestealers or warriors, always with a venomthrope, and those lists work rather well. My worry with bugs would be synapse, if you're running termagaunts don't they run and hide once they're out of synapse? Although hormagaunts should do fine, since they're units of one they'll always just charge the nearest enemy. Kind of awkward to use, but could work. That's a lot of stuff to kill.
