I just got home from my Friendly "Local" (about an hour drive) Gaming Store with a set of those "made to order for like a week but only one week for some reason" Kasrkin Commandos, and I noticed that Ever. Single. Model. is warped to the point that it's just about unpaintable. The sword and pistol on the sergeants are both warped something awful, with the barrel of the pistol drooping down pretty far. It's the same story with the rest of the squad, the barrels of their lasguns are all drooping downward or to the side quite noticeably. Somehow, and i have no idea as to how this is even possible, but the flamer is also drooping quite a bit. I think that the grenade launcher is the only model that I can fix without making serious project out of it, just some bad flash and a droopy antenna.

Now for my actual question. How does the Dakka community recommend that I go about fixing these guys? I paid $41 USD for these guys, so I'd like for them to be usable. Let is be noted that this is exactly why I hate metal models. I have NEVER had this problem with plastic, and EVERY SINGLE metal model I've ever bought has been warped, but it was always fixable by just bending them with my fingers. Seeing as how this kit was pretty popular with Guard players, what is the most popular/effective method used by you in order to unfeth your Stormtroopers?

Well...that sucks. They're metal right? Metal bending was pretty common but only on thin things. Most white metal is easy to bend and fix --- but sometimes it'll crack and you do get work-hardening where you bend it.

Are the lasguns able to be clipped and replaced with plastic ones? (even just the barrels). If it's all weapons...you could try that route.

Oddly, back in the day metals weren't really too bad. I suspect they're rushing things now.

These are pretty darn thick compared to the other stuff that I've had to unbend. I do happen to have an abundance of Cadian lasguns that I could remove the barrels from. That may actually help. Thanks!

Phone GW customer services and tell them you are unhappy.
They will advise you on what to do next and probably replace the items.

Hey, I didn't know they had a customer support hotline. I might give them a ring.

Would they help me even if I bought it from a non GW store?

If you have a receipt and your store is a proper GW stockist, than yes they will help you.

I contacted the store owner and he said he would refund me. I hate to get rid of them, but $40 is pretty expensive for defective models.

Go directly to GW!
Not only will they replace but will probably let you keep the faulty product.
Their customers service is second to none.

No kidding! We may complain about the scuplting, the armies, and the game, but GW is second to none when it comes to handling defective models. (Except when we're talking about finecast, anyway.)

I got a sealed Dark Vengence kit off e-bay with an extra trooper sprue instead of a command sprue. One phone call and GW sent me the command sprue free of charge, no questions asked.

It's the one part of GW that works properly.

CHAOS! PANIC! DISORDER!
My job here is done.
