I feel like I'm missing something but looking through the C:IA codex, the astropath struck me as a nice cheap way to get twin linked but is it too spammy to have like 4 -5 additional HQ single model detatchments in a regular force? I know if your local toruney may have detatchment limits but just for run of the mill battleforged it seems like I can practically spam this guy.

A lot of MSU all rolling prescience could be pretty good (we'll just assume that approx 40% goes off), that 100 - 150 points could seriously increase overall firepower (and offer some cheap deny dice too)
I've always liked alot of acolytes with storm bolters/plasma/servitors with plasma cannons and this level of prescience could be really awesome on the bunch of them. I always hated using plasma on bs 3 models, but with rerolls, they become way more effective than what people usually expect of them.

Seems like a pretty good deal but I keep having the nagging feeling that I'm missing something here. What are your guy's thoughts on this guy?
Think there would be some special ruling in the future for how tournaments would allow or disallow this kind of thing?

+ Thought of the day + Not even in death does duty end.

Prescience is good but it's Warp Charge 2. Psychic Shriek is onl Warp Charge one and can do a real number on squads.

He works just like you said, and is a pretty great deal. The only thing that would prevent yo from taking as many as you want is tournament/house rules limiting detachments. Otherwise he is a great way to add a ML psyker to any imperial squad with no additional tax.

Agreed with above, a ton of separate detachments get annoying imo. That is how it is uced though and is a really cool model at a very reasonable monetary price also.

Well, that and its a bunch of easy kill points.

Cheap support stand alone characters are always easy kill points.

can neither confirm nor deny I lost track of what I've got right now.

Don't forget this. Astropaths are fragile.
