Just wanted to showcase my first foray into a homegrown Space Marine chapter.
This guy is intended to be used with Tyberos the Red Wake's rules.
I've always liked Rhinos and I figured Spehss Rhinoz had not been a thing yet (arguably for good reason but I like Rhinos so shush).

I agree about the barrels - I really should have drilled them just after I assembled him. I'm concerned if I did it now I might scuff up the blades which came out a really nice earthy green.

I will probably start a blog eventually but I expect it'll be slow going. I have ~10 Terminators (Stormraven and Stormtalon too) but I need to search for more of those CSM Rhino-terminator heads. A lot lot... lot more.

I have decided to start a blog about building the Space Rhinos, since they are a bit of a passion project that I really enjoy working on (link below).

It will probably be slow going, focusing on quality over quantity. But hopefully one day soon I'll have a small Space Rhinos army.

Pretty cool model and really nicely painted, but I personally can't stand those silly gun swords.

Painting is very neat and solid. Colour combination is original and nice. Back handing is really cool and well done. The heraldry is astononing. Is it free hand???

@reluxor Yeah the heraldry is freehanded - took a few tries to get right but it worked out really nicely. The next addition to these guys will be a bannerman so we'll probably see how well I am really able to freehand once I finish that project. Not going to be sticking to simple silhouettes, that's for sure.

@SargentWhiskey Well personally I don't think anything is wrong with the Space Rhinos idea! But in a galaxy of Wolves, Salamanders, Angels, Claws, Tigers, etc. I can see how Rhinos might be considered kinda innocuous hahaha. But I love the idea, and it lets me be really creative with figuring out how I'm going to give each type of helmet horns.

Great job on the conversion idea. Never thought the SM terminator helm would be so suitable as a rhino style helm but you definitely capture the right aesthetic with the horns! Look forward to seeing how the rest of the army turns out.

I disagree, rhino are a force to be reckoned with. Resilient and unstoppable. I think they should be specialized in brutal frontal siege "tactics"

Funny you should say that, in the lore I have written so far they are Frontal Assault, Siege Specialists haha. Idea is that they are extremely good at going into the breach, so to speak. Siege weapons open holes in walls, in run the Rhinos. However, also included is the fact they are a heavily assault oriented army (like Rhinos charging into the fray). So when I say 'in run' I mean chainswords out heh. Tactical squads kinda get relegated to clean up detail, coming down in drop pods after the main army has charged in to clean up any mess. Consequently I will probably play them with the Carcharodons chapter tactics so that they are required to keep moving forward/charging. On the flip side, if Forge World CTs aren't allowed, Iron Hands CTs work well. Make them seem tough - give Akachi Masego the Chain Relic which gives him Eternal Warrior, FNP 4+ etc.

As for freehanding - I'm sure you could pull it off. The hardest part for me was making the white circle, but following a few online guides I ended up making a dot where I thought the center of the shoulder pad was and then spiraling my way outwards with the brush and watered down white. When I was happy with the shape I just gave it a couple more coats (since white doesn't do a good job covering dark grey). Then after that I kinda just painted a stick-Rhino-head and filled it outwards from the stick figure. It's hard to describe - when I do a third member of the Rhinos (after I finish the bannerman) I'll try to do a step-by-step guide on my blog so you can see how I go about it. But I mean, there are loads of great tutorials out there - I just follow them! I might also do a step-by-step of how I do the Rhinos Banner freehand depending on whether I do a good job.

Just finished getting this guy (Ranako Wekesa) into passable condition (complete until my freehand work vastly improves - this is my first attempt at freehanding a banner so it ain't great):

But really though love your idea and paint scheme, love the muted earthy brown cloak on the commander with the dark grey armor and the earthy green accents! Definitely a fan! I wanted to update this thread as well so here is a kinda-sorta-nearly-finished Company Champion.
Obviously I will update again once he is properly based and I have done the finishing touches here and there. But for the most part he is done. I'll be honest, I'm not as fond of this guy as I am Akachi and Ranako but I think with a bit more detail here and there he'll fit in just fine!

I think he looks pretty good - the green OSL effect from the sword is pretty overpowering in the first pic - a lot of green.

You really need to paint up a Rhino for your rhinos to ride in.

I agree 100%. Think imma do it eventually. Once I complete the Kill Team I will buy a Rhino for my Rhinos to ride in and paint Rhinos on it.
