I was looking over the FAQ and found a potential conflict.

Am I missing something here? It seems to be two different ways of determining barrage results against vehicles.

p160 BRB
Hits against vehicles are always resolved against their side armor.

p14 FAQ
Q: Regarding Barrage weapons and vehicles – how do you
determine which side is hit?
A: Assume the shot is coming from the centre of the
blast marker and hits the nearest side.

The FAQ still specifies SIDE, it just specifies which side, for the purposes of cover saves. The blast hits the side closest to it, rather than the side that is opposite it and cannot be seen.
No conflict!

Ah got it. Left or right, not front side or back side.

The blast hits the nearest side for determining where the tank is hit (such as for cover), however it uses the Side AV for determining if you pen or not.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I believe the ruling was specifically to handle the Imperial Knight's Ion shields, since barrage weapons that hit are going to ignore intervening cover anyway.

Some people find the idea that other people can be happy offensive, and will prefer causing harm to self improvement.

People tend to misunderstand the difference between facings and AV. The direction a shot comes from effects a facing, while the AV that is used is determined by the rules for the attack. Most of the time the two coincide, but occasionally you have an attack like Barrage that can hit the front of a model and roll again Side AV (because in the old days vehicles had a top AV equal to side AV), or the Wall of Mirrors which hits the front but rolls against Rear AV (because the attack seeks out weak points rather than center mass). The FAQ clears it up by confusing the same people even further.
