Subject: Old Q, but just got the model: Can Hemlocks WriathFighters shoot d-scythes as SkyFire?

My question is in the title:
Can Hemlocks shoot d-scythes as SkyFire?
Under flyers, page 85, under Special Rules, it says "all weapons they fire that phase are treated as having the Skyfire special rule."
Now, firing at zooming flyers means Snap firing, which templates cannot do, but that'd be from the ground, *not* using Skyfire.
Is there an exception I missed? Page?
So ... ? Yay or nay, can the Hemlock Skyfire its d-scythes at other flyers?
Thanks!

Skyfire means you can shoot at zooming flyers using your normal ballistic skill. So based on that, yes. However, you still can't fire blast weapons at zooming flyers regardless of Skyfire or not.

D-scythes are templates. Still, got any pages that back your position?

Yeah, the same paragraph that says they can't be hit by blast weapons.
Pg. 84 - Hard to hit:
Templates and Blast weapons, and any other attacks that do not roll To Hit, cannot hit Zooming Flyers.

Love me some quoted pages and text.

A Hemlock's d-scythes are not templates.

This is an actual rule in the actual rulebook. Quit whining about how you can imagine someone's army touching you in a bad place and play by the actual rules.

Huh? lol wut?
*looks up info in codex. Squints at fine print.*
I toldju guys I just got the model for the first time.
Damnit! Blasts! And just two shots?1?!
Well, good and bad. Better range for shooting, but suckin' otherwise. Still, I'm now looking to build around the psy-funess of leadership penalties.
@DarknessEternal:
Thanks very much for pointing that out. Without significant psy-help, the flyer is just best off as a Crimson Hunter, huh?

As the draft FAQ said templates/blasts can *fire* at flyers there was a short period where you could aim at them but not hit them if using those rules. This is about as sensible as shooting a knight's heavy stubber at a land raider while its other guns do something elsewhere for a charge; it allowed for other interactions of the rules instead of just damaging the target
However the November FAQ page 7 removed that by saying you can't target flyers with skyfire blasts at all, so basically we're back to where we were before the FAQ

And here that is:
"Q: Can a Swooping Flying Monstrous Creature or Zooming
Flyer be targeted by a Blast or Template weapon with the Skyfire
special rule?
A: No."
This has been very nice YMDC Q&A, guys. Thanks. Page numbers and quotes!

Important think to remember about the Hemlocks Mindshock Pods, they only effect Moral, Pinning and Fear checks rather than Leadership tests in general.
