Replace the Smash rule's AP2 with APX, where X is given in parenthesis after the Smash rule. The X2 Strength option remains, and is resolved at AP-2. (Minimum 1. So Smash (3) would have AP1 super smash, Smash (5) would have AP 3, etc.)
