Hey guys.
So I know this could come off as a little flavor of the month but I'm seriously looking into Chaos & Demons after seeing some of the new line. With my current armies it's generallybeen the models that have attracted me [when I first got into the hobby I had no idea what was good and bad but it was the same time the Riptide was released and so Tau was my first army - please don't hate me it was between Tau and Tyranids]

I really love the look of the new Lord of Change / Kairos Fateweaver as well as Magnus. I've played against a demon summoning list previously and I was really surprised by how adaptable and dynamic they were during the course of a game. I'm tempted to wait for 8th edition before I move forward with anything but I'd like to know what the communities thoughts are for starting a demon army. Currently there isn't like a "Getting Started: Demons of Tzeentch" and considering the sheer mass and variety of models I might need to have or in the case of the pink horrors split up into does anyone have advice on getting started with Demons (preferably Tzeentch, my friend already does the Khorne thing) Like if someone was going to build a 500-1000 point Tz demon army how would they do it? I'm not trying to be uber competitive but I also don't want to start games to just take models off the board by "fluffy grav bikes."

Also - Do most people paint their demons with an air brush? I see so many beautifully painted models and I would hope to do justice for them. If there are any resources for this that would be greatly appreciated.

I dont think 8th is going to change much in regards to the psychic phase or summoning. Neither is game breaking on the level of tau or eldar and GW loves them summoning dollars rolling in. Also, while chaos demons are very powerful they trail behind the big two a bit so I would not call them flavor of the month in any fashion, so no worries about that. But there is one question you need to answer when considering Tzeentch demons, and that is how much money do you have to blow. Its probably the most expensive army outside of forgeworld in the game. The horrors alone are going to bust your wallet wide open.

I did not paint my demons with an airbrush. I prefer the hand method. I cant help you with a list at any point level because I only use demons to ally with my CSM.

semi-necro.
Thanks for your input.
I recently picked up Chaos Demon Codex, Wrath of Magnus and Curse of the Wulfen. I will start pawing through these to see what I can come up with. My friend says he would never play against Magnus :(

Magnus can be very hard to deal with and if combo'd properly is almost unkillable. I wouldnt worry about not being able to run him vs your friend. You have tons of premium options open sans magnus.
