Wth Ubisoft saying they were going free on DLC there was some question as to how they were going to do Season Passes and the like if all had access, and now we now. I imagine that it is 'free' in that one can use in game currency to purchase the items after grinding an interminable time or one can pay real money to unlock it. What is really distressing to me though is the "Champion Status" that only lasts a fixed period (7 or 30 days atm) which means that there will most likely be a monthly fee like an MMO. I wasn't a big fan of the Season Pass idea in general but it has become part of the modern gaming landscape but I'm not sure that having a monthly fee is going to go over well tbh.

Looks like the season pass gives early access to new classes.
Champion Status likely gives a higher rate of accruing in-game currency and/or XP. Several games have this kind of thing in their multiplayer.

Most notably, Rainbow Six: Siege has a "Booster" that is only purchasable with Rainbow Six "Credits"(only purchasable with real money). All the Boosters do is make you earn Renown(in-game currency that unlocks characters, weapon upgrades, weapon/character skins, etc) at a higher rate.
If For Honor ends up like R6, the Season Pass is a good deal for people who aren't going to be playing hardcore as you get early access and the new characters immediately unlocked rather than having to grind out currency in-game for them.

If it is just in game credits that won't be so bad but the concern is that you can just buy Champion Status with real money every month or so, which seems problematic.

I went and compared the Boosters from R6 and their durations, and it jibes with the Champion durations I have seen so far.
So all it likely is?
Increases the rate at which you(and if they keep it the same as R6, anyone on your team in a game) obtain in-game currency from matches/missions.
To use an example:
We play a match of Terrorist Hunt in R6: Siege. We play it on Normal(no Renown[in-game currency] bonus), and do Terrorist Hunt Classic(clear the area, straight up elimination with nothing special). I have a Booster(100% extra Renown) on, but you do not. You get 10% extra Renown because of my Booster.
So where normally we would earn 130 Renown, I earn 260 Renown and you earn 143 Renown.

Why is it problematic?
Plenty of games do this with no adverse affect.

You don't see what would be odd about having to pay $5/10/15 a month to get the full experience of a game you already own that isn't an MMO? Not only that but thanks to other people like Kanluwen who have a better understanding of it have explained why it most likely isn't a real money status so it really isn't even an issue at this point. The problem wasn't the Season Pass, or even an elevated status, but the concern that one would have to spend real money to get that status month-to-month.
