Farseer
Got a Jetbike for him?
My initial plan was to run him with the Avengers in the Wave Serpent and dismount them at opportune times to deal with infantry and support the rest of the army with psychic powers. That being said is putting a Farseer on a jetbike pretty much mandatory? I've seen quite a lot of them in the games I've watched so I know they're a popular choice.
Putting him in a (no Fire Point) tank shuts down his psy-usage, so yeah, he needs to be Out-and-About to fulfill his role and jetbike mobility is so useful.

Sad to say, the
WL is really weak. No Invuln, and 3 wounds, in a world full of Gravguns, GeneStealer Claws, etc. I note the 2 flamers but they'll only bag up to 6 genies, and the rest tear him apart.
I did feel that he was probably the weak link, which is such a shame because I love the model and the idea of having a big stompy creature in my backline. If I were to take him out what should I replace him with? A Fire Prism? Or maybe use his points to upgrade the Aspect Host?
Usually the best answer to a WraithLord upgrade is his Super Saiyan alterego.

But WraithKnights go for $115 American and I don't know how many pounds
UK. It is not advice I like to give.
Do you have a buddy with the Doom of Mymeara? For almost twice the
WL's points cost, you can get a WraithSeer. He is same T and other stats, but one more wound, a 5+ Invuln, and minor pysker buffage. You can buy him a D-cannon for 60 points. Of course, this has him weigh in at 25% of your list's points.
Lastly, and the easiest option on your wallet, take him out for more infantry.
And that infantry ought to be Spiders (
WL's points out for 6 to 7 spiders). Make Spiders part of the Aspect Host, and let the Hawks just be regular Fast Attack, since their guns are meh. See below.

Exarch, Sunrifle
Sunrifle out for his regular gun. And they really got hurt in the grenade use. Still mobile as heck, but oh-so-very fragile.
Do you mean that the Sunrifle isn't worth it on the Exarch? I took the Hawks to cause some havoc in my opponent's backline units or support my other units as needed (No scatter deep strike is very awesome) and to have a soft answer to flyers. Are they not strong? Or are there better options out there I should look at?
The small increase in the likelihood to kill one more
MEq with the weak
Str of the Sunrifle (and nice AP3) per salvo, is not worth the cost of what could be another elf on the table.
IMHO.
When I used Hawks extensively through 7e, it was to do like you pointed out, to be mobile. Especially for Maelstrom objectives (they are a big part of tourney games in the ITC). And the ability to smack flyers is awesome! Other than that,
GW gave them a big nerf in clarifying one grenade in every phase (lots of players used to say 'throwing' a grenade implied the shooting phase only. But that's now really clarified, and water under the bridge).
But Hawks are not able to 'cause havok in my opponent's backline units'. Not the kind of destructive fire power of FireDs or Spiders. LasBlasters just aren't that strong, not compared DeathSpinners or even BladeStorm fun of
DA guns.
So, they're still okay, but really used for a safe Maelstrom grab and nailing flyers. Move, shoot and battle focus out of LoSight. And when trouble is coming, use SkyLeap to be safe until next turn.

You're very welcome.
