Quick little question: Belisarius Cawl's rules say that he can be taken as a HQ choice for any Army of The Imperium. Skitarii are obviously included on that list so does that mean that now Skitarii can be put into a regular CAD or Allied Detachment so long as Cawl is taken as a HQ choice? Or does the fact that Skitarii generally have no HQ slot deny them the ability to take Belisarius Cawl on his own at all?

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated as always. Thanks lads.

3000pts Blood Angels (4th Company) - 2000pts Skitarii (Voss Prime) - 2500pts Imperial Knights (Unnamed House) - 1000pts Imperial Guard (Household Retainers)

2000pts Free Peoples (Edlynd Fusiliers) - 2000pts Kharadron Overlords (Barak Zilfin) - 500pts Ironweld Arsenal (Edlynd Ironwork Federation) - 1000pts Duardin (Grongrok Powderheads)

Wargaming's no fun when you have a plan!

I don't have the Skitarii dex on hand but as long as when it states what faction Skitarii are it says it allies as the Imperium of Man does then it's perfectly legal to take him as an HQ choice in a CAD along with Skitarii troops. I won't have Fall of Cadia on hand til Monday so I'm not 100% on how Cawl's HQ rules work so you may end up with a hitch there as well.

The benefits for the Maniple are better than having OS. So why would you want to?

Because I can? I don't know, I was just wondering. Perhaps use him in an Allied Detachment to give a unit of Rangers the ability to more effectively camp an objective? It was more a question of interest.

There are also some people and tournaments in my area, for example, who are sticking to the old CAD as the only allowed detachment. Which means being able to field Skitarii als a CAD isn't complety stupid.

Which cuts out Harlequins too.

Some people don't think.

Pretty sure this works. Don't Celestine and Greyfax have the same rules. If so you could use them as well.

Well it's similar to how the ITC rules are counter to GWs current philosophy. ITC limits detachments you can take like old school 40k, when lately the rules have been geared towards building forces with a bunch of little formations.
Maybe I just feel it more because for some asinine reason half my army is "faction skitarii" and everything else that came out since is "faction ad Mech" so I have to take a bunch of different formations just to take what most other armies can do with a cad.
Does seem GW is moving away from armies into units being their own formations though.
