Hey, I'm new to AOS, so want to start small. Is this list decent/any good? What could I improve?

Lord Celestant - 100

Liberators - Hammers and Shields, Grandhammer, 5 total - 100

I am not a stormcast player, but seeing what you are building , I would try to fit in a formation so that you can deepstrike the retributors.

Your list as it is now is a bit to foot slogging and will most likely be outmaneuvered or shot to pieces before you get to do any real damage, the deep strikers might help there.

Also, you would need at least a second hero, for the possibility of three places of power where only heroes can claim the objectives.

I would only take a gryph hound if you have a more shooting based army, but I suppose you just added it because you had the points left.

Stormcast have the best shooting in the game. No reason not to take them if able. Retributors are nice but dont count on the soulmaces to as much damage as you think.

Lord Celestant works best with retributors w/o starsoul maces. But they are usually too good to leave behind. You need some shooting, and a way to move those retributors to where they are needed. Suggested Edits:

Lord Celestant (100)

Hammerstrike force (120)

Prosecutors stormcall javelins (80)

Retributors - 5 Retributers, 1 Starsoul - 220

Retributors - 5 Retributors, 1 Starsoul - 220

Judicators with Bows (160)

Liberators - Hammers and Shields, Grandhammer, 5 total - (100)

I was looking at the judicators, and I suppose I could switch them in more competitive games. I was kind of going for an Order of the Silver Hand theme with my army, of WoW fame - an order of Paladins that hit things with hammers.

I appreciate your help very much guys, sorry for the delay.

Would switching the Vexillor in for the Celestant and combining two of the retributor squads work?

Vexillor

5 judicators
10 Liberators with 2 grandhammers

10 Retributors

Or, alternatively, dropping five of those liberators and keeping the celestant.

I think the vexilior would be a good choice, so would dropping 5 liberators for a celestant. As long as you don't go beyond 25% you'll do fine, mainly because that way you won't compromise your army's choices too much.

Combining the retributors at this point level isn't, though. 40% of your army in a single unit? That's no bueno if you ask me.

You make good points, and I've adjusted the liberators. Though, would I not want a bigger unit for the Vexillor to teleport? Figure 10 Retributors in my opponents face an dcharing right off the bat would be pretty scary.

It would be pretty scary and limited. Sure, it's an impressive trick but you're pooling half your army in that single trick. You'll most likely delete what you're charging at but most of the time the opponent will think of screening with chaff and then countercharge you. THEN you'll be deleted.

That's a good point...

Would it be better to split them, then? Just have the other group run up the field as support, or maybe get some prosecutors with hammers instead?

I think the latter would work well, mainly because you can cover your lack of ranged game. Judicators may be better but the prosecutors keep on with the theme. Another choice may be dicthing one of the heroes and a block of 5 retributors and get concussors, they are very good at their job.

At this point level it's bit hard for stormcasts. Their units are overcosted (not the batallions, though, which is what makes them competitive.) so good luck and try experimenting a bit.
