Hi Everyone! I'm new to the forums and to (40K generally). I've mostly played WarmaHordes, but am trying to get a grip on the Grimdark. I want to get in on the Tzeentch-mania.

I want to use Magnus, Lord of Change, Kairos, Multi-hued horrors, and the other bird/goat hybrids as the base of the list. I'm used to getting the rule cards in the model's box, but 40K is pretty different. If I want to get rules for all those models, I need to buy:

+ Wrath of Magnus
+ Chaos Daemons Codex
+ Disciples of Tzeentch (To play AoS)

Is that right? Do I need any other books?

Thanks!

You'll need the CSM codex. Magnus is a part of the Thousand Sons force. Wrath of Magnus is a supplement to the base CSM codex... So, you need the base codex.... It would also be worth it to get "Curse of the Wulfen" for all the extra Psyker powers, artifacts, and formations for Daemons...

My 40k Tzeentch force uses these books:
Chaos Space Marine Codex
Chaos Daemons Codex
Curse of the Wulfen supplement
Wrath of Magnus supplement

That's the downside of playing Chaos in 40k... You always need a minimum of 2 books... Some forces require even more... A mixed daemon/Thousand Sons Tzeentch force requires the most I believe (at least to run at it's most optimum)

Hmm, my current list (4 sources) requires the below

Chaos Daemons
Chaos Space marines
Khorne Deamonkin
Astra Miliatrum
Curse of the wolfen supplement
Wrath of magnus supplement
Mont'ka supplement
Traitor Legions/Black Legion supplement

Its a tad annoying...

I might have misread, or misunderstood, but if you have the Enhanced or Tablet edition of Chaos Daemons (Daemonic Incursion edition), doesn't it include the new rules from the Wulfen book.

Obviously if you have a dead tree version, or annoyingly the Gamers edition, you'd need both books, since they dont appear to have been updated.

Depending on the units you select, you may be able to skip the CSM codex as Wrath of Magnus has all the rules needed for Magnus, Tzaangors as Troops and E-Sorcerors for an HQ.
If you want to run other units, or run a cheaper Sorceror, then yay, you will need the CSM codex.

For Deamons, 3 books ARE required: the Daemon Codex, Curse of the Wulfen & Wrath of Magnus. If you field no Tzeentch units at all, then WoM is not needed, but clearly running Tz is the goal here.

If you want to summon bloodthirsters, Khorne Daemon kin gives you better options.

Yeah. That's a lot of money to spend before you have some models. It's one of the policies of GW.

Heck, you don't have imperial armour 13 either. Useful units and vehicle legacies
