Hello friends,

We will be launching a new Kickstarter next month for the RPG component of Thon. I'd like to invite you to check out the preview linked below. If you have any thoughts and constructive crits, please do share.
To summarize, it will be:

--A thematic pick-up-and-play RPG, where sessions can still support a longer-running campaign.
--Objective based, with typically 1-3 Primary Objectives ranging from Raids on Orbital Platforms and Capital Ship Sieges to Covert Strikes on underground mining facilities and hardened Sons bunkers. Complete Objectives to Level Up.
--Fully compatible with the existing tabletop game and line of miniatures, but it is a standalone pnp RPG expanding the existing universe.

To catch you up in case you haven't kept in touch;

2013 - We ultimately cancelled the original KS.
2014 - We self-funded over the course of the next year building each piece individually and completed the game. Partnered with Warsen.al to develop a killer set of terrain.
2015/2016 - We traveled to several conventions, revised several products and have started on some new projects we will be announcing soon.

We have grown and improved over the last couple of years - and continue to do so. Please check us out! Thanks!

I'm glad to see you expanding. I was a big fan of your aesthetic when you first launched as it reminded me of Mass Effect at the time. One suggestion though that I'd make is to not prominently link to some iphone case and tshirt merchandise website on the kickstarter and instead link it to your own store that sells the minis (although the ones I looked at right now were out of stock for the fireborn... not sure how much you have there) and tabletop gaming products instead as those more fit the demographic you're aiming for with the rpg kickstarter. Sure, add in the tshirts and mug link maybe further down but not so prominently especially combined with the absence of actual pertinent merchandise.

Thanks for the note. We will be updating the page up until launch and have added the link to the store as well as a new ADD-ON for the Warsen.al terrain.

We sold out of the majority of the models after GenCon and are currently revising the bulk of the line.

We are focusing on getting the part count down, better detail and more dynamic poses.

Glad to hear you're doing well!

It was great to meet y'all at Gen Con. Are you exhibiting again this year?

Yo Benson!

Good to meet you too. You guys had a cool setup, hope things went well for you.

I'm on the fence with GC, Its a long haul from CA but it was great to meet fans in person and make some new ones. The contacts generated there were well worth it.

How bout yer'self?

Things are going great!

2017 is looking like it's going to be an awesome year (setting aside anything going on outside of minis gaming, lol).

We'll be back at Gen Con, which is very exciting (and a massive money sink). But I agree that it was totally worth it last year. We met lots of great people and had an awesome time. And this year we'll have, like, ACTUAL fans and customers coming to see us.

I'm also hoping we'll get a sweet spot for our booth. Booth numbers haven't been announced yet, but I think we'll have a great spot! It seems to me from talking with folks that the second year back at Gen Con tends to be better. You're not stuck in Entrepreneur Avenue, you're a known quantity to the attendees, and you've passed that 'will-they-stick-around' hurdle.

There's been so many cool opportunities popping up this year. We've got our plans set for Exiles, and we're also working on a couple of new games, plus we're doing contract production for Blackwater Gulch which is super cool.

I'm happy with where we are with the company. We're growing slowly, but we are in a position to keep growing, and to keep moving from success to success. I like that we aren't wedded to a Kickstarter format, and that we are positioned to put out regular releases and bring in a steady cashflow.

Gen Con would be a PIA haul from CA though, ick. It's why we won't be at the LVO. But it sounds like Thon is going well!

Are you trying to cut down on parts to make production/packing smoother?

Probably skipping the Cons this year to focus on this KS and another longer-term Thon project.

My main goal is to revise the minis and they won't be done in time to manufacture, pack and ship. Two-years of cons was good and I loved it - We will be back next year probably.

I want to cut down on parts - they were originally designed for plastic sprues and to support a lot of customization, kit-bashing and modifying, but there are a lot of really small bits that can be consolidated - hip plates, shoulder pads, two-piece bodies. It was a toss-up of having some cool bits people could customize with vs. a simple mini playable out of the box. With plastic it is a little more forgivable but the metal can be a pita sometimes and packing hundreds of 10-15part minis is not a small time commitment.

We will also be offering some custom and unique 3D printed bits but the cost is still pretty high on a quality print.

Well I'm sorry we won't see you there, but I absolutely understand the time issues. There's never enough time!

Packing 15 part minis would be a real PITA.

We went with simple, one piece minis for Exiles. I din't people to have to pick up or even own a bottle of glue to play the game. I've found that we are getting a lot of players from RPG backgrounds, so the simple minis have been a big hit.

For a wargame though, you can tolerate more parts, but 12-15 is pretty major. Who's doing your production?

So, when I commented that due to the lack of quality on the previous mech kit, and you guys responded that you have fixed all of those issues.. BUT.. now I see you talking about fixing them like that hasn't happened yet? Is there a new, cleaner version of that kit (the mech) or not? Without seeing a new, clean production model there's no way anyone familiar with your existing kits will back this.

From our exchange:
Terribly sorry you were not happy with the model. That was our first resin model and we have since switched to a new resin caster. I'd be happy to replace the model when the new ones are up if you'd like.
Instructions for the model are on the site and we are always working to improve, including reducing part count.

Hi MLaw,
As I mentioned, I'd be happy to replace it when the new ones are up. The mech has not been recast yet. The strikeship and drones were done with the new caster. Sorry for any confusion.

I would be more than happy to send you one or both at no charge to ensure the resin quality meets your standards.

You mentioned you were moving so let me know where and when, enjoy the move!

When we identify an issue we work to fix it, thanks!
