Subject: [600] - Imperial Guard - Potentially cheesy Leman Russ list

Hey guys,
I've just started playing the occasional 40k game with some old friends after a 2 year or so break.
Our first challenge is to try and come up with some of the cheesiest armies, and test them out against both average 600point lists, and other cheese lists.
So here's my first potential for the cheese fest:
HQ: Tank commander Pask in Leman Russ Punisher
(210)
Leman Russ Punisher
(140)
Troops 1: Veterans
(60)
Troops 2: Veterans
(60)
Heavy: Leman Russ eradicatior
(130)
This leaves me with 10 points for upgrades, not sure which though.
So what do you think? Any loopholes I'm missing? How well do you think it'll do against both average and other spammy/cheese lists?

If you're going for cheese I wouldn't bring a russ. Especially not 350 pts for one tank that can be one-shotted or torn to pieces by massed s4 in combat (edit, rear is 11, but still combat would destroy it) - additionally it can only target one unit each turn and for over half your points that is bad. At 600 points your best bet is MSU's and maximising board control and saturating your gun line.
If you like guard style armies I would recommend heretics. Particularly for low point games as they're cheaper than guards whilst still retaining the same functionality. E.g 120 pts could get you 40 fearless wounds with 4+ fnp and obsec. For a bit more than the cost of the punisher you could have 120 fearless wounds split between independent units. And at 600 pt games your opponent would be hard-pressed to get through that.
My sort of list would go as follows:
Command Squad - Covenant of Nurgle - 55 pts
Plague Zombies x15 - 45 pts
Plague Zombies x15 - 45 pts
Plague Zombies x15 - 45 pts
Plague Zombies x15 - 45 pts
Plague Zombies x15 - 45 pts
Plague Zombies x15 - 45 pts
Spawn x3 - 55 pts
Spawn x3 - 55 pts
Rapier Destroyer x3 - Militia Training, Extra crew - 79 pts
Rapier Destroyer x3 - Militia Training, Extra crew - 79 pts
- 593 Points
This is simply my take on a 600 pt list (I'm not saying you must take this, just wanted to highlight some weaknesses in yours and show you the kind of list you could be facing).
I hope I've been helpful and not too critical

Sorry if I wasn't clear, the 350 points is for 2 punishers, for a total of 3 leman russes.
And where can I find heretics? I can't say I've ever heard of those units.
Are they a new codex or are they forge world? Automatically Appended Next Post: The idea behind the list was that most 600pt lists I see rarely have more than 2 anti-tank weapons/units (if not less) and by placing 3 armour 14 tanks on the board would reduce a large portion of my opponents army sitting twiddling their thumbs.
But that said, the groups I tend to play with aren't overly competitive (in the form of taudar spam anyway) but I see your point and am interested to see this heretics army :p

I can see it now....Nids are now a collection of autonomous hive fleets there are multiple Hive Minds and they all war with one another in addition to everyone else. They speak to humans using telepathy, and they can now ally with Space Wolves as battle brothers, because reasons.
Tyranids talking to humans would be like you talking to your mashed potatoes or the probiotic in your kiefer drink. It is neither possible nor productive. Inside my mind I pinched my nipples and savored his bitter silence.

Ahh I see, that makes more sense!
It's a forge world codex (but still usable in tournaments because forge world isn't as taboo as it once was).
https://i.yuki.la/tg/1430833586703.pdf - This is a slightly older version, the one I'd recommend is siege of vraks as it's very similar to this but allows more than just one unit of zombies. The HQ is the command squad.

Thanks for that Lancelot, never seen that before
The groups and mini tournaments I tend to play with don't normally allow forgeworld, and superheavies etc etc, but it looks like that would be an interesting army which I'll have to test against someone sometime!

Be aware that the rear armour is the issue and a daemon list will usually be able to wreck most tanks and have a save that isn´t ignored by your guns.

Also, should be pointed out that the two tanks in the Tank Command squad (23 ST 5 shots apiece - assuming hull heavy bolter, one at BS 4 (Rending for 20 shots due to Pask), one at BS 3) can split fire by using a command that is passed on LD 10.

true the amount of shots is nice but they don´t ignore inv and aren´t strong enough to ID the spawns or beasts.
a slaanesh list i could think of is
herald on steed, ML 2, loci of beguilement, exalted - 190
5 seekers - 60
5 seekers - 60
6 fiends - 210
chariot - 40
chariot - 40
Also expect the SM players to have grav/melta and possible drop pods.
I would look to get something else instead of the eradicator or drop 1 punisher and put the eradicator in the command slot. You have split fire as an order so can hunt seperate priorities if needed or go full mental on 1 unit with total evilness Automatically Appended Next Post: maybe a defense line to give you some cover.

Thanks for the feedback guys
Bit of a stupid question, but how does grav work? I stopped playing only a little while after they came out, and never really looked into it.
Are they that much of a threat to tanks?

Yes they are a threat to vehicles. Against non-vehicles its an ap2 gun that's to-wound roll is the target's armor save (so shooting a 2+ terminator means gravs wounds on 2+)
Against vehicles a 6 removes a hull point and causes the immobolized result (also extra immobolized results just deal an additional hull point). So grav only needs to roll 2 6s to kill most vehicles in the game. And the heavy grav cannon comes with reroll to wound/armor pen automatically.
