Some quick questions from a guy who started playing 2 weeks ago.

With melee does having a ccw and bolt pistol allow two attacks?

If a unit has 2 weapons like a bolter and a bolt pistol can I shoot both of them if theyre in range (kill team)?

When do I use cover saves? Are they ever better than other saves? Do I make an extra roll for the cover save or is it in place of something else? Seems like they dont seem any better than regular saves.

I don't mean to come across as rude, particularly to someone who is both a new player and new to this forum, but it sounds like you need to sit down and read the rules. Your questions are fairly simple and easily answered looking at the relevant parts of the rulebook. Hopefully these references can give you some assistance.

Sometimes. Have a look at the 'Weapons' section in the rulebook, specifically at Close Combat Weapons and Pistol Weapons. Also look in the Assault phase section under the Fight Sub-phase, 'Number of Attacks'.

Sometimes, but usually not. Most models can fire only a single shooting weapon in the same phase. The 'Unit Types' section of the rulebook will tell you about some unit types which may fire more than one weapon in the same phase, as well as specific rules for specific units/models.

Again the Shooting phase covers this. Specifically 'Types of Saving Throws'. If your models have decent armour or invulnerable saves already then generally cover saves won't be very helpful, unless they suffer Wounds from a weapon with low AP.

Remember, this forum isn't a replacement for owning and referring to your own copy of the rulebook, but we're generally happy to help if there's something you don't understand, or if you need pointing in the right direction.

Unfortunately, sometimes the answer is "sometimes".

I'll try and give a bit more info:

1) The Pistol rules are on page 42, which talks about using them as a Melee weapon in addition to being able to shoot them (non-Pistol shooting weapons cannot be used in assault). On page 49 "Number of Attacks" tells us that models with 2 Melee weapons (weapons with "Melee" in their Type line) gain an extra attack. Note "extra", so if you have a model with 2 or more base attacks, they only get one more not double.

2) The rule that models can only fire a single shooting weapon per phase is page 31 "Which Models Can Fire?" - many models have exceptions to that rule (Vehicles, Monstrous Creatures, Tau Battlesuits etc.), but most may only fire one.

3) Cover saves are useful against weapons with low AP, or for units with weak armour saves. There are also units with the Stealth and/or Shrouded rules, which can get better cover saves than armour saves.
"Types of Saving Throws" (mentioned by Mr. Shine) is on page 36, and see page 38 "Models With More Than One Save" for why they replace the armour save roll rather than being an additional roll.

If people have taken the time and effort to answer your questions then it's not really acceptable to turn and insult them.
