Seeing how just about every faction involved with the new campaign are getting overpowered characters, what are your thoughts on what the necrons might get one they get dragged into the fray?
I hope they get the Void Dragon, a Star Crusher, or some raging C'tan.

If everyone gets 1 supersized model, how about a return of the Nightbringer ?
The Void Dragon could work too, as a "Dragon" GW can put this Model up into the air on swirly things...

Seeing as how the void dragon was rumored to be a C'tan imprisoned in mars, that would be cool to see it escape and summon up a hidden tomb on mars to challenge the ad mech

The Void Dragon was sharded just like the rest of them. There could certainly be a shard on Mars though.
I think either a shard of the Dragon or Outsider would make an awesome Necron "hero" piece for Gathering Storm. We shall see.

The Void Dragon was brought from Terra to Mars. He was positioned there... to influence the Ad Mech. He doesn't have to challenge them...
The good news for Necrons is, they are free to take their own place without too many silly ties to "Loyalists" and "Traitors".
Necrons could play the grumpy old farts who chase the kids off of their pylons; but they could also just jump into the fray to have their vengeance upon the pesky space elves, these servants of the Old Ones.
Necrons make an awesome 3rd party for campaigns.

I'd definitely love it if Necrons got some sort of overpowered mini as part of the campaign. Trazyn's already been sniffing around so there's some sort of Necron interest going on (and as a side note, he's currently out of stock on GW's site).
Would be great if we got another C'tan out of it. Even if the Silent King was to make some sort of appearance it'd be grand (although he's more anti-Tyranid than anything else it seems).

Most likely, a model of the Silent King - if they get anything at all (I have no hope, f'ex, that 'nids will get anything at all).

A new C'Tan would be cool, as would the silent king, but since we are not one of the big four lore wise (Imperium, chaos, eldar, orks) I think we'll be limited to cameos. Maybe in gathering storm three we'll be fighting ad mech, because that seems like an inevitable battle, but it seems just as likely it will be the conclusion of the armageddon war, loose ends and all of that.

My best guess would be that we will get an updated Trazyn due to his involvement on Cadia, The Silent King is supposed to be on his way back to the galaxy, and a Coalescent C'Tan Shard of the Void Dragon because I'm wishlisting.

The other thing is that Necrons don't really have any dangling plot threads, there is no central leadership, so the faction can't inherit motivations from them. They are also very self contained, they have history with the eldar, and the silent king is returning to deal with the tyranids, but outside of those they don't have fingers in many pies.
Though in all fairness, we would be an awesome villain for the eldar in book 2 of the gathering storm. They have been pretty cagey about who the eldar are fighting, and while the assumption has been Slanesh/chaos, maybe Immohtek decides that Beil-Tan needs to be eliminated before the eldar can birth yet another warp abomination. Eldar of all stripes gather to fight the Stormlord's legions and protect their newborn God. It would also be a nice break from the thrice damned IoM is everything narrative.

Szarekh the Silent King is back in the Universe somewhere, he fought along side the Blood Angels when the Tyranids forced them to ally for a bit.
And that could be a way for the Necrons and Tyranids to get into this battle. With this much psychic energy and Biomass gathering in one area of the Universe the Tyranids are drawn in and Szarekh arriving to fight them.
Who knows, Szarekh might even see humans as worth saving to be used in reversing biotransference.

I'm down with that. Maybe we will get necron vehicles that have actual armor plating, instead of huge "Shoot me here for massive damage" signs. Also a Giant Enemy Crab Necron titan would be nice.

IMO here's my opinion on some things that might happen. If we're considering it to be related to The Gathering Storm, then perhaps Biel-tan fracturing could open an opportunity for Necrons to try and finish them off. As a separate idea a faction of GW's choice, most likely the Imperium, notices Necrons mustering at a certain point only to realize the Silent King has returned. Also, Necron hierarchy has the Silent King as part of a Triarch, could make good for a Triumvirate I'd also consider the Void Dragon a possibility simply because it involves the Imperium

Every faction will be involved in some way, just like it was in the Fantasy EoT, however that does not mean that everyone come some cool new mini's. It would be nice to see each faction get something new, but GW seems to rush things a bit.

I thought the Void Dragon and the Outsider escaped the rebellion, the Void Dragon because he was fighting Vaul and the Outsider because he went crazy after eating his kin and went to the edge of the galaxy.

My bet is, it'll probably be the Silent-King and then maybe 2 new units like a Praetorian Lord. I'd imagine Silent-King would make Praetorian's troops or something along those lines. Probably some way to buff the Praetorians. I'd like to see the Void Dragon as well though.

It seem pretty much confirmed that the Necrons are not featured with any significance in The Gathering Storm II, and that their enemy is, in fact, Chaos. This is based on the leaked Dramatis Personae listing for the book, which features... Aeldari and Chaos (including both forces of Slaanesh and Ahriman), and not a single Necron in sight.
Generally speaking, I don't think Necrons will appear in The Gathering Storm at all, but are likely to be featured heavily/as a main faction in a later trilogy set after the Storm is finished Gathering - Something like The Breaking Storm, in which you see:
The 13th Black Crusade crash onto a newly-reinforced Terra (with Guilliman, Cypher, Cawl, Celestine, etc.), with a Chaos Triumvirate
The clash of the Ork WAAAGH! led by Ghaz crashing into the 'nids in the Octavius war, with an Ork Triumvirate
A force of Necrons, led by the Silent King himself, striking at another (or the same) 'nids force, with a Necron Triumvirate.
That still leaves room for a third trilogy, something like "The Storm's Wake" dealing with the fallout of a weakened Imperium/Chaos presence, allowing the remaining factions a chance to get a Triumvirate of their own:
The Fourth (or is it Fifth now?) Sphere of expansion by the Tau, in which the Tau Empire presses outward to take advantage of a weakened and distracted Imperium, with a Tau Triumvirate.
A new Tyranid fleet arrives in another sector of the galaxy to begin consuming undefended Imperial Worlds for biomass, with a Tyranid Triumvirate.
The Imperial response to both of these expansions, introducing a third Imperium triumvirate (because damnit, the Imperium hasn't gotten enough yet, have they?)

Well, the top 3 I'm hoping for are:
1. The Silent King returning. But, seeing the initial threat of the chaos expansion using the eye of terror as a gate (which the Necrons themselves created by accident when fighting the war in heaven) he musters the Necron race to his side to fight Abaddon. Then, after that's been sorted, leading a volunteer force against the Tyranids, allowing all the good dynasty on dynasty action intact, until he returns to lead once again...
2. Trazyn whipping the Necron race into action . Since the Silent King hasn't returned (and might be so anti Tyranid he might ignore the chaos threat) I imagine Trazyn essentially getting Phaerons to fight chaos (as he saw first hand what they do on Cadia.) I can imagine the AWESOME scene of a XBOX HUGE Necron fleet joining up with the loyalist armies, ready to show the youngsters how they did it 60 million years ago...
3 Something something C'tan. Not sure what, but it will probably be AWESOME.
Included bonus pic of my very first Necron minis I've -literally- just made. Sorry for its size, but the photo quality made smaller resolutions potato quality:
