I picked up a imperial knight renegade box set at a comic store yesterday and wanted see what you folks thought was the best variant for my mech guard.

I understand all have different roles I've just never used one. Currently I am debating a crusader to sit back as my tanks roll up or a warden / errant to support an advance.

Also how can i field both? Or would that be too much of a point sink at 1850?

Paladin w/ Melta and Triple Krak Missile [S8 Spam]
Warden [Gattling Cannon] with Skyfire Autocannon

I spent extra points here and there... voxes, a MoO, Astropath, Bolter and Autocannon for the Vets, but that's personal taste. The framework is there. The PE vs enemy within 6" of an objective is a life saver for the Plasma Boys.

Honestly? I couldn't justify taking Russes with Knights. Knights are just such a better value for the points.

I hate the CCS. dont care about the x4 melta x4 plasma etc. would rather pask in a punisher and some friends. That said if I kept my list what knight do you think would be the best complement?

Drop the Leman russ Exterminator and 2 Armoured sentinels and you will have about 800 points to play with. That should be enough for both IKs and a few upgrades.
