Hello ladies and gents.

So I am starting to save up for a large purchase. I can't seem to figure out which I would rather play, I can't stand seeing the same army as me used by a lot of others so I want the most underplayed underused and under powered armies there are.

Which do you think it would be.

Imperal fist
Imperal guard
Tyranid
Harlequins

I need to go to work every day.

Just based off my personal experience and opinions:

-Harlequins are the least played of those four.

-Imperial Guard are actually one of the most
common armies from what I've seen. I myself play them.

-Imperial Fists I would guess are played a bit less than Tyranids and much less than Imperial Guard, mainly because Imperial Fists are only a single chapter within the SM codex.

So, in order from most to least played of those 4:
1. Imperial Guard
2. Tyranids
3. Imperial Fists
4. Harlequins

Do keep in mind though, that if you go with Harlequins, you may end up allying in Eldar or other armies as I hear they're not very good as a standalone force.

Chaos Space Marines are pretty common, but Daemons is fairly uncommon (but the7y see play because they are competitive)

Halequins would be a fair bet, but a new book is coming "Gathering Storm II" with stuff mixing up all kinds of Eldar. So Harlies should might have a comeback, even if temporary

I say don't worry about what people are playing and pick something YOU will enjoy.

Harlequins are very limited in what they can do. As was said before, once you start to loose all the time you will be allying in Eldar, and then you will just go full out Eldar and drop Harlequins.

Tyranids don't seem to be popular because they don't have the "easy" button to win with. That is why you don't see them much.

As for Imperial Fists, why do you pick them out? They are basically Space Marines. You will see them a lot. So I don't understand that.

So since it's YOUR money, your time, your fun, do what you want and not worry about what you see others play. What is next, you going to say "everyone is wearing clothes, I am going to walk nude now"?

Pick something that is your play style. Pick something you will enjoy playing and modelling and painting. If you pick Harlequins because they don't have many options to play with you may not like that play style. So picking that because nobody plays them just seems silly to put in all that effort of buying, modelling, painting.

Make it fun. Make it joyful.

Agies Grimm:The "Learn to play, bro" mentality is mostly just a way for someone to try to shame you by implying that their metaphorical nerd-wiener is bigger than yours. Which, ironically, I think nerds do even more vehemently than jocks.

Everything is made up and the points don't matter. 40K or Who's Line is it Anyway?

I can relate with the OP. If I feel that my faction is the current FOTM, it kills all the enjoyment for me.

Imperial Fists are just Space Marines which are super common.
Imperial Guard are pretty common too. They're hardly the FOTM but they're popular. Same goes for Chaos.
Harlequins aren't really a standalone army. They're more of an Eldar expansion pack.
Tyranids are decent and I rarely ever see anyone else playing them. I always feel like a special snowflake when I play them.
