I was told that dark angels HQ that are mounted on an astartes bike lose there deathwing special rule and gain ravenwing, but cant find it in the 7th edition codex.

umm, dont know who told you that but err...no they dont lose deathwing OR gain ravenwing....(although the dark angels faq now allows characters on bikes to join the ravenwing force org chart thing even though they dont get the ravenwing rule (so you could have a libby on a bike with them for example.

someone either hasnt read the codex or is just making stuff up im afraid.

I think its because they lose the deathwing special rule when you give them a bike in battlescribe!

It's not written anywhere. Meaning it doesn't exist. If there's no rule saying they lose DW rule and gain RW rule it means they don't lose DW and gain RW. For you to lose DW there'd have to be a rule saying you lose DW, it is their job to find a place in the codex that says they lose it.

Anyway, I found it, in GW website there are several errata pdf's on the dark angels one it said:
Page 159 – Ravenwing Strike Force, Restrictions Replace this with the following: ‘All units in this Detachment must have the Ravenwing special rule (pg 148) or be a Dark Angels character equipped with a Space Marine bike.’

That doesn't give the characters the Ravenwing special rule. What it does is permit characters equipped with a Space Marine bike to be taken in a detachment which required all units to have the Ravenwing special rule.

ya, but I was asking cus I wanted to put librarians and chaplins in ravenwing deatchments, sorry if I don't explain the full story!
