so Age of sigmar's fluff has been fuzzy to me for a while. I participated in the season of war campaign and now that it's over I have no clue what is happening. Are the new books that are out telling us stuff interesting or cool? maybe just the cliff notes version?
thanks!

Tzeentch manipulated the season of war to infiltrate the new cities with cults etc check out the tzeentch section of my lore thread and the city of secrets section to get an idea of how people live in the cities.

This book is the first taking the narrative now beyond the summer campaign, released with the Tzeentch battletome. http://www.blacklibrary.com/all-products/city-of-secrets.html
It's great, but if you want to wait I'll be interviewing the author this weekend about the book, setting, where the aelves, duardin, humans and such are now in a proper city. That episode will be in the next few weeks. But it's good, if you like reading the novels.

I might be able to provide a summary, as I've just begun reading City of Secrets.
Briefly, the first arc of Age of Sigmar "present times" involved the taking back of the Realm Gates from the dominant chaos powers. We saw the Stormcast deployed for the first time, followed by massive fights against mostly Khorne and Nurgle forces. This culminated in the "All Gates," the siege of a Realm Gate nexus point.
When City of Secrets begins, one gets the impression that centuries have passed. Non-Chaos controlled human cities exist again, and active trade is taking place between them, with ships plying the sea. Civilization is multi-species based, with humans, elves, and dwarves all over. We once again have slums and poor people and thieves and all of the things that were so common in the Old World's Empire, but utterly absent from the Mortal Realms until now. Citizens of Azyr have relocated to the realms to settle the cities, alongside the "reclaimed," who are people who lived in the realms during the age of Chaos. There is something of a social rift there, as families tracing back to Azyrheim tend to view the Reclaimed with suspicion, supposing they must have some taint for their family to have survived under chaos rule.
In City of Secret's timelines, the Stormcast are still around (indeed, they are likely the same Stormcast, being immortal) but we see now that they have strongholds in the realm where they are stationed. When Orcs threaten the city, the Stormcast sally out to deal with it.
I'm not far enough in to say much about the plot, or if we see anything else about the Stormcast. But, I definitely get the impression that the city of Excelsis in City of Secrets would not look all that different from an Empire city, save perhaps for ancient structures here and there that hint to the viewer that they date back to the Age of Myth.
I hope that helps!

It's about damn time. Everything was so empty-seeming, before. At least some new storylines can emerge, now, rather than Stormcast vs Chaos battle stories.

Oggthrok is correct and a very good summary of the phase of the fluff but it has not been centuries though a generation at best.
The city is like a blend of high and low fantasy which is pretty neat. As josh reynolds said city of secrets is a great "pilot" novel for phase 2 of the fluff.
