Not surprising. We launched 60 cruise missile and a bit over a dozen impacted. The majority were likely taken out by Russian S-300 anti missile batteries. It's not like Russia isn't going to protect their investment in Syria.

Really? I had no idea that few actually hit.

What exactly are you high fiving over Frazz? The wordplay? The idea he is promoting? You just wanted to use the thumbs up orkicon cause it's funny? What exactly is "epic" in that person's post? Because it sure isn't the logic or idea. Old folks like us should probably not use words like "epic" unless we are trying to be hyperbolic.

Care to direct that to a poster, or just want to leave it as a typical Trump and dump? Care to actually defend the comment you made at all?

I think they know they cant defend the indefensible, not anymore as the crazy goes on

Can't direct my above comment to a single offender as there are several of you popping off at the moment, all to the beat of the same drummer. As for my comment, Neil Gorsuch is an outstanding choice. I applaud his joining the Supreme Court. This would never have happened had Hillary Clinton won the election therefore I feel that my vote against her is vindicated.

Do any of you have anything other than hyperbole? No?

 Vaktathi wrote:
Breotan, you came in, made a rather sweeping statement about how outcome Z justified your position, while flatly ignoring outcomes A-Y that are almost universally negative, and then responded with "look at all this unhinged hatred" when confronted with problems A-Y...and of course, no explanation on what made Gorsuch worth A-Y over Garland.

I've seen you debate better than that dude, bring some of that to the table at least

I made a post about Neal Gorsuch. I did not join the discussion about "problems A-Y" because those discussions here don't interest me. They're too loaded with hyperbole (as the replies to my comments demonstrate) and too short of actual discussion apart from Sebster and one or two others. I have been up front and consistent in why I voted the way I did and detailed my exact reasons. Calling me a Trump supporter shows a clear and deliberate ignorance of my politics and past statements here and in other threads. Take a moment, Vaktatki, and look closely at Gordon Shumway's reply and tell me how that is reasoned discussion or a salient counter-argument to my approval of Neil Gorsuch's confirmation.

"...but the overt Trump supporters never have. Just flybys. Just Trump dumps. Just gaks in a world of gaks. Just Tonys."

I'm asked to defend my comment when THAT is what is passes as reason here? That's not reason, it's simply unhinged hate of Trump. I don't mind debating my positions with people who dislike the President and his policies but at least bring honest debate to the table. Seems like fewer and fewer people are willing or able to do that these days.

@Breotan: It's not really hate of Trump, it's the hate of the debate that Trump supporters elicit. You, in that last response, have demonstrated an ability to discuss. My comment about "trump and dumps" was clearly not aimed at you then was it? Just Tony. I have no problem with Trump's pick to the SC. It is the person I would have expected a rational right leaning person to pick. I don't like it, I don't think he should have had a pick, but it was a decent pick. I don't understand where the nose rubbing is useful however. Why gloat? Why rub it in people's faces that "your side" figured out senatorial rules better and so can thus smear it on everybody who disagrees. It was your initial tone that got me started, and your responses up until your last, well reasoned one, that got my ire up. Think before you post. You respect Sebster. We all here do. Why? Part of it comes because he has well reasoned responses. He does because he posts, often, outside of the heat of the moment. Please PM me if you would like to discuss this further. I don't want to pull us off topic further.

We shouldn't be surprised considering that a significant portion of the electorate votes the same way every 4 years based on a very simple principle:

"I'll vote for whoever nominates the conservative SCOTUS justice, and I don't give a feth about anything else."

That's pretty much it.

The liberal sides has argued for it as well... but, just couldn't seem to rouse the libs to go to the polls just for that. Which is kinda baffling if you ask me, especially since how the Garland situation was handled.

some of that is fair, I'll grant, but given the nature of the conversation and the shennanigans behind Garland's lack of a confirmation and Gorsusch's receival of such, and the tone of the original post (that implied support of Trump and thus associated issues, even if it did not express such or mean to), the original post really did feel almost aimed at getting exactly that kind of a response. Apologies if I misread anything for my part.

I shouldn't have to bring this up. But more "libs" went to vote for Hillary than Trump. Seems like the motivation was there. Get out of here with that argument.

And it's only going to get worse from here on out, with only needing a simple majority to approve justices. Senate and POTUS races are going to be meaningless for many, other than as a vessel to the Supreme Court.

Honestly, my guess at this point is that by 2024 we will have gotten rid of the Filibuster altogether and will be able to ram all legislation through the Senate with a simple majority. We will pass a bill to have a SCOTUS Justice for every Federal Circuit, increasing the number of Justices to 11, and then move more and more towards having a hyper-partisan court.

I think you are a being a bit generous with the 2024 estimate on the filibuster. It's done now for all intents and purposes. Why would Sen. Turtle follow it when he has no need to and no backlash for not doing so?

If that's what Bolivia wanted to discuss, good on her. If they just wanted to say, "hey, you got toilet paper on your shoe", probably best behind closed doors. I have no idea on Bolivia's motives, so I'll trust it was a good on her.

There was nothing insane about what was on that declaration, requiring them to defend a chemical strike on civilians out in the open is nothing sinister, though I seriously question the motives of someone who does see something sinister in it.

Umm what? We fired Tomahawk missiles, something the S-400 is directly designed to counter (along with pretty much anything else that flies).

I think it points to the fact that Russia isn't all that concerned with the strike and certainly doesn't want to escalate beyond words. It lends credence to them being okay with Assad getting the boot so long as Syria stays in Russia's influence.

No option for Constitutional Monarchy. Similarly, there is no option to be nuanced on the issue of prostitution, such as making it legal to be a prostitute but illegal to solicit the services of one.
