Hey guys.

Have been playing with my friend for a year now and we do mostly play versus each other so we try to counter each other every time.
Aand there is a problem. I have never beaten his tyranids with my Blood Angels. I've done it with my eldar force (nothing cheesy, aspect-heavy army. no knights or jet-bikes) but I always struggle with my Angels which saddens me a lot.
And the main problem is his two Flyrants with TL devourers (or how is that weapon with 6 str 6 shots called ).

While playing Eldar I counter them with Dark Reapers who if don't kill him, at least will put a lot of pressure on his Flyrants. As Blood Angels I don't know what to use (mostly because I still don't have anti-air units at all). So right now I'm thinking about bying Stormraven. Also thought about devastators with flakk but they will melt veery soon. I've tried to simply ignore them but they jsut start to play very agressivly and kill me. Sometimes I've lucked out with skyfire objectives but it's not consistent and doesn't help all the time.

If you have any suggestions or advice about how I can deal with them I'll be glad to hear them!

Difficult to ignore two Flytirant.

Maybe dev with flakk in an imperial bastion

I do it all the time, actually. If you are in CC, they can't shoot you.

If there are only two Flyrants and you plan to engagehead on, a Stormraven or two may work. Arm them with TML and Twin-linked Lascannon, and you are still at least 5pts less than the Flyrants, and have enough fire power to down one as you have 5 shots (1 of them are TL) S8/9 and AP3/2. Defintely will force one to jink and reduce their fire power.

If your opponent is taking 4 or more Flyrant. Just ignore them and charge into his ground units. Also, what else do he bring? Outside of Flyrant, watchout for Mawloc.

Deredeo Dreadnought with the Autocannons. It will clean house with Tyranids FMCs. The Plasma Cannonade is another option, but it is shorter range.

5250 pts
3850 pts
Deathwatch: 1500 pts
Imperial Knights: 375 pts

He mostly brings some warriors, gargoyles, carnifex with tl devourers and exocrine. Sometimes zoanthrope or two and venomthropes. Recently he added gsc to his army. I only struggle with flyrants though as I can deal with other things usually.

I find that sometimes forcing the flyrants to fly into terrible positions is usually a good call, when they are in the air they still have to follow directions and pivoting rules and the such, and when they are on the ground they are vulnerable to asssaults and shooting.

What I do with my DE is focus all my fire to ground a flyrant, then use whats left to finish it off, don't spread out your fire, focus on until its dead, then move on.

Remember dfts takes skyfire away from stormravens.

I've never encountered a player who uses dfts. I get the impression that it's not a popular expansion.
Without it, stormravens are a decent flyrant deterrent. But we'll have to see whether they roll it into 8th.

Aside from that, I'll second Deredeo dreadnoughts. Excellent gunboats that melt flyrants.

Thanks everyone for their input, ordered Deredeo dreadnought. Will see how it'll all work out

You can also take Belisarius Cawl as an HQ, take another HQ and give it Momento Morispex, then attach that HQ to a grav-dev unit. Now you have Grav devs who can either skyfire or gain monster hunter.
Plus Cawl can go toe to toe with MCs.

I have considered it but I just don't find it very appealing for me to use Cawl without AdMech allies. Maybe I'll buy their start collecting and do this but as of right now I want to focus on Blood Angels entirely.

Totally understand your reasoning. Puts you in a pickle however. Ravens are BAs best pure anti flyer defence but suffer a major problem against FMCs that are in assault focussed armies. That problem being that if you spend enough points on Ravens to make a difference in the air, the FMCs will just land and pick their combats, and the ravens then have nothing to shoot at. Then you have say 1250/1450pts fighting 1850pts in assault.

Why not play him at his own game? Your weakness is FMCs, his weakness is high AV. Take a Lucifer armoured task force alongside a CAD. Keep the Baals/Preds cheap as the Tyrants will eventually get side/rear armour, but won't make anywhere near their points back in doing so (Id also suggest flamestorms as the ACs are a ripoff in comparison to a normal auto/lad pred) Take a Typhon in the CAD. Now he has to deal with a redeemer/crusader full of DC and a Typhon.
If you don't like FW you can take some chapter ancients and take a few fragiosos. Overload him with AV that he will struggle to deal with, with juicy assault units backing it all up.

That's actually a great suggestion! Will definitely try it out. Just need to get my hands on a LR now.
