This is a fun list I have had some pretty good success with. Looking for any tips or modifications that would be better.

Wolf Claw Strike Force

Blackmanes Detachment

Ragnar Blackmane

Veterans
Thunderwolf Cavalry (4x TH/SS, 1x CS/SS)

Wolf Scouts (5 man unit)

Long Fangs (3x Flakk Missile Launcher, 1x Lascannon)

3 Units of Bloodclaws in Drop Pod(1x Flamer, 4x CS/BP)

4 Units of Grey Hunters in Drop Pod (1x Melta, 4x BG/BP)

Auxillary

Wulfen Murderpack
2x Wulfen Units (1 Leader, 2x TH/SS, 2x Dual Frost Claws, one stormfrag auto launcher per unit)

All the drop pods come in on turn 1 automatically. Its been really fun to put on the pressure and ensure my TWC can make it somewhere, and counter charge is a HUGE BOON against any infantry heavy armies as well.

Never been a fan of the Blackmanes, too restrictive for my tastes.
If you can afford extra look into the Wolf Guard Thunderstrike formation.
300pts or so for a Drop Pod packing five Wolf Guard and three Wolf Guard Terminators that come bearing Twin-Linked on the turn they arrive as well as the usual Champions of Fenris boons.

Load the Wolf Guard with Bolters and the Termies with Heavy Flamers and make two units disappear on the turn the Thunderstrike hits.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

Thunderstrike pairs well with the Blackmanes. I have two issues with Blackmanes though: nothing is objective secured and they have almost zero mobility after they drop. I've been trying to make a Blackmanes/Ironwolves combo work.

That sounds cool.
Problems would be in the wording of Units and Vehicles right? They're always in just the wrong place to combo properly.

Do you mean both formations in the same army at the same time? I am super new to SW and trying to make an army myself, seems the two at the same time would be very difficult points wise?

The free pods on the Blackmanes and the free vehicle weapon upgrades make it easy to fit a lot of stuff into the lists. The issue is that none of it is obsec despite the troop heavy nature of these formations.

So then I would figure from my research last night that you would run minimum required squads from both lists? Probably not using Blackmane himself and going with only a Wolf Lord. As well as taking VERY few squad upgrades?

It seems very intriguing of an idea for sure, but I have not played 40k yet and this is my first go at building an army so I am having a hard time wrapping my head around having enough points to build this!

Here is the WIP list...

Ironwolves
battle leader
2 x 5 blood claws, flamer, razorback, (all upgrades)
4 x 1 land speeder, typhoon, MM
1 x 4 long fangs, 3 lascannons, razorback (all upgrades)

Blackmanes
battle leader, thunderwolf, storm shield, power fist
5 TWC, 1 claw, 4 power fists, 5 storm shields
3 x 5 blood claws, flamer, pod
4 x 5 grey hunters, melta, pod
1 x 2 long fangs, pod
scouts, melta

The blackmanes drop on objectives or jam up movement lanes, TWC do what they do but you'll need to hug cover to avoid focus fire, the ironwolves cover the back field and provide fire support while the speeders tank hunt, line break, and go after objectives.
