Which one should I choose? I'm not playing in a competitive format and I'm using the Assault Brigade from IA:12 if that helps.

I like the DKoK rules because they're fluffy and you can say "whatever" to casualties but they're limited in their selection of things and aren't as strong as the Astra Militarum codex. Also, default IG's tanks and vehicles are cheaper.

The Krieg list is worse power wise than the codex list in my eyes but it has a ton more flavour. It depends what you want more, but if your main goal is competitiveness Guard isn't the best choice anyway. However you can have almost the best of both worlds by running Codex Guard in the Castellans of the Imperium detachment, where your Troop choices will re-spawn on a 5+.

You know what? I might use that formation. The Black Templars are the one of the only Space Marine chapters/legions that I like and I can use them with Imperial Guard for awesome benefits!
